Soliciting recomendations for wheels/tires/suspension

The magnum is pretty much the daily driver for both of us. Haul the kids and dogs places and general family car.

I'd like to put a 20" combo on there and maybe go with a bit more classic look of larger diameter tire on the rear. Has anyone done this? Or maybe a spring/coil kit that lowers the front slightly more than the rear to trick the eye. Or maybe leave it alone and just add the 20s.

Anyhow, can I get some pics with info from you all on what you have to get some ideas?

P.S. The one pic I have seen that I realy like is hops23's Inferno red with 20" Boyd JYDs and an air bag susp(?). That dog wont hunt in my wallet for a family ride, but man does that thing look good!

I have KW V2s w/the shocks turned 1/2 turn softer than what KW recommends. Still handles GREAT yet rides a lot better than the OEM SRT8 suspension.

Check the sig. I think the wheel/tire combo I have is perfect! Rides great and the tires still have somewhat of a "low profile" look to them.

Too many folks w/20s seems to run THICK looking tires. Not my cup of tea.

Well I'll give you a few idea I hope you like.

I LOVE what the Hotchkis TVS kit did for my car even while I had the stock wheels and tries on the car.

I got a tad over 1" of drop all around, and much better ride. and now cornering is a non issue its on rails, and the ride is not harsh at all, with the stock tires.

Now when I went to 20's Foose Nitrous I absoluty LOVE the look of the car but the truck tires that I got are just too stiff and heavy. We (LX owners ) are for the most part screwed for tires that are MADE for cars in the size we need.

I want to run staggered ( 20x8.5 and 20x10's ) with 265 and 295 tires that match up to 29.4" in Diameter ( just about an inch taller than stock ). I have run in to a few small problems with the combo. Nothing major, and I am begining the feel that the others that are running this combo are only running very smooth roads. I have to drive gravel roads every now and then and I have had some tire/front fender contact on full suspention tweak.

Now after messing with this for a while I think my issues could be solved a few ways. I would like a tad more of set in the back as when I load up the car a bit I get just a smidge of rub and an extra 5-10mm offset would probably fix that even with the 295's but I need to get under the car a bit more and look at back side clearance. As to the fronts again a little more tweaking on the offset woudl fix most of my issue or maybe just a little less of a drop or a tad stiffer suspention.

Now all that being said, I stil LOVE my setup, yes it has given me a few headaches and I accept that I have tinkered and played with stuff and thats part of the price you pay for that. And this is my daily driver.

Now for suggestions. Dont go stagered and dont go overly wider than 255 all around and i think you will miss most of what I have been messing with. You can get a little beefer tire I have seen a few 255 / 55 and 255 / 40 and they look good and keep the side wall thick enough that its not going to be punishing.

If you stick to the stock wheels there are a few people that have those tires on the stock wheels and its a nice look. You can also look around for some of the Black/Silver Charger RT R&T wheels and that would look very nice on a red magnum.

If you want to go 20's the foose are very very nice wheels ( make sure you have a 90* short valve stems and an extra stem hole plug ) but right now they are hard to get ahold of.

These are a 3 pc forged wheel that GSM is working with. Forged wheels are typically lighter as well and if you tie that into a car tire vs a truck/SUV tire you loose wheel weight and that always a good thing.

I went with these and 275/40-20 tires no lowering but i am considering sway bars.

I run (well...my wife's car) staggered (see sig) and the 275-40s in the back has NO RUBBING WHATSOEVER! In fact, I can probably go w/285-40s (Goodyear EMTs only manufacturer however). I've had 3 adults in the back; car is dropped a full one inch lower than stock SRT8 (alread lowered) with NO RUBBING!

It's all in the offset. Find a 20x10" rear wheel w/6.5" backspacing (+27mm offset) and you'll be just fine.

Hey SXTRED, do you have any rubbing with the 275 series tires? Seems like they might rub aganst that front steering knuckle thingamabob.... in the front well? I like the fatter tires..

A 275mm tire easily fits up front with a 15 to 20mm offset with a 9 to 9.5" width wheel. No problemas.

Yeah, I'm running stock 18" rims still with an inch more in diameter tire than stock (285/50/18) in the rear plus I have it lowered an inch in the rear with NO RUBBING. Maybe your offset is wrong for the car on your wheels? my fronts dont rub either.
