    Slicks for 18's

I was wondering if anyone makes or has tried running a slick on an 18. The only drag racing type tire I have been able to find for 18's is the MT drag radials 245/40/18. Thanks for the help!

Mickey Thompson has a 305/45-18 drag radial. They had it on the yellow Challenger 1320 that was @ SEMA. They were on cop car wheels that were widened 2".

There are no SLICKS for 18 inch Wheels.

Only Slick available bigger than 15/16 inch is the 17 inch HOOSIER slicks

Lot of choices in the 18 inch Drag radials... M&H and MT have several sizes available

The drag radial just feels so hit and miss with my runs. Sometimes it decides to hook sometimes not. Maybe i'll try and sell my tires/rims and buy 17's next year.

If you have 18X9 rims... then try M&H 325/40/18 Drag radials... they work real well.

I used to not care for 18 inch DR's since they tend to have little less sidewall for flex. But I cannot bunk the fact I have gotten my best 60fts 1.51 several times with the 18 inch M&H's

Maybe because you're running a 245/40-18? Not much sidewall there. It's only ~25.7" tall. Here's the diameters and min. wheel width specs. on what Mickey Thompson has in the ET Street Radial 2...

    305/45-18 = 28.8" ...min. 9.5" wheel
    305/35-18 = 26.4" ...min. 10" wheel
    345/35-18 = 27.5" ...fattie! ...min. 12" wheel
    265/40-18 = 26.5" ...min. 9.5" wheel

The 265/40-18 might work a little better for grip. However, you'd give up only a bit of gearing- if that's why you're so short now.

The gearing is nice with the 245/40/18 compared to my street tire 235/55/18 but even 3rd gear feels like a dog compared to 1 and 2 and it's so long, but I also don't want to go through the traps in the middle of 4th.

I ran the 265/45's on stock wheels and got consistent 1.7 sec 60' times with only 402 rwhp. Traction was good, if I had a higher stall, and more practice, I'm pretty sure they would do much better. I hit the juice as soon as they hooked up, about 1 revolution and they stayed hooked up.
