    RT Wheels and Wide Tires

Does anyone know or have firsthand knowledge of how wide of a tire I can put on stock RT rims? I'd like to put a 40 series tire on if possible.

The widest I've heard so far is a 255. Believe it is a 255/50-18 to keep close to the same diamater for speedo reasons of course. That is the size I will go to when my Contis are done.

    Pick your poison.

If you're looking at 255's, you can go with 50's or 55's, and have more or less diameter than stock.

I have the 55's, and they stand taller off the rim than the originals and fill the well a little better, but don't have the 'low-profile' look. Looking at the above math really makes me want 20" rims on the car. SRT-8 rims/tires end up being the same overall diameter of my 55's on 18's except obviously way less sidewall.

Did you notice a change in your miles per gallon with the wider tires?

I'm averaging the same as with my Conti's, but I'm also running the cooler thermostat and the Superchips 91 program. I get ~24 hwy if I keep it under 90, and you won't believe the ride improvement of switching to any tires other than those Conti's.

Mine is definitely an all season tire, and I've driven all seasons in them. The rubber is harder than F1 Supercar Tires to be sure, but with 15k on two of them and 5k on the other two, they're wearing just fine and they're a good compromise tire.

Not too expensive, wears well, performs adequately for a daily driver.

I have somee 245 x 40 series drag radials (18") and there is not enough side wall for me for a everyday tire. They look way to small & my car is even lowered. If you were not lowered the gap between the fender and tire would be huge,
Check the search- I think someone put 285's on the stock rims. I have 285's on rear only but my RT rims were widened 1".
