    R1 Concepts Brakes

A while ago we had taken our car in for some warrenty work, and the front end need some work. The dealer said that we need new front brakes, but it was not covered. I had read that some guys had used the R1 Concepts brakes and loved them.

I priced the parts alone from the dealer and it came to; about $300 plus taxes for a total of #333.35. Then there would be labour cost if they did it for me.

Call Sam at R1 Concepts and gave him the info on our 06 R/T Magnum and the kind of driving we do. Thier price was $210 plus shipping, for slotted and cross drilled rotors and a set of the PosiQuiet Ceramic Pads. They say that they are quiet, long lasting, and very low on brake dust.

This was a no brainer to give them a try.

Here are some pics of doing the install, which took me about 2 hours including painting the calipers.

    Before the install.

Old rotors have been removed and calipers are cleaned for painting.

    Painting Calipers.

    Rotors installed.

    Rotors and calipers installed.

    With the wheels on.

The final result looks stunning, and once they were broken in they stop way better. This was a great mod and I would tell everyone they should do this when the time comes. So far everything they said about the brake are true.

And the rims are Boss 304's 20 inch with Toyo 275 R40 20's.

Now all I need is some time to paint the rear brakes so that it all matches!!

Man, they look great. I really like those drilled/slotted rotors AND I like the black hubs!

I'm really interested in those R1 rotors and pads but I'm waiting to find out more about durability (ie. resistance to warping) before I pull the trigger. It's getting harder to resist every time the car stutters while slowing down to turn off of the highway, though....

Anybody that's had them on for a while have an update on them? Thanks!

...And yeah, I beat that yellow 'vette by a tenth - LOL!

Very nice! When it comes my time to get brakes, that looks like the way to go.

I've been running the R1's for 20000 miles now and have a slight vibration again. Nothing that can't be cured by a good high speed bedding.

    Stock catback, and stock drivetrain

Thanks Higs. Coming down out the the Rocky Mountains last year all the stuff in the door pockets was bouncing around every time I had to use the brakes - embarrassing as he**. It's pretty slight shudder during normal driving, but I always remember how it was in the mountains. I did do the brake-bedding procedure after we got home but it hasn't helped the oem rotors settle down.

I had these rotors on my old car and never had a problem with them. They are definately good rotors for the price.
