Questions about winter wheel setups for srt8 clearance.

ok guys, it dumped about 10 inches of snow here last night and the f-1's are useless. i cant even move the car farther than 5 feet. so.. that being said.. i have a couple things i gotta know..

1. 18" wheels that will fit over the srt8 brakes. just a few models that you guys have used already.. or are positive they fit. the tire shops here cant tell me, and searching the forums i've got a couple that i know fit but wondering if anyone else came up with some new ones..

2. winter tire preference in the 18" and what width a guy should go with

3. and last... what if i dont put the oem sensors in the winter wheels.. what is that going to cause? Are the sensors needed for ABS, traction control, etc? Or do the sensors only alert of low tire pressure? can i get away without them?

Winter wheel setups are popular around here, I'm sure you'll get good info.

But in case you don't know this, you might benefit from it...

In snow our ESP system gets confused. When ESP senses wheelslip under any condition it applies the ABS brakes and cuts the throttle. So from a stop in snow or on ice your car may sense wheel slippgae and refuse to move. Here is how you get around that:

1) Momentarily (until you're unstuck) turn ESP off completely by pressing the ESP button. Holding down the ESP for 6 seconds to totally eliminate ESP is not usually neccessary.

2) Autostick to 2nd gear

3) Slowly apply throttle and you'll get going just fine.

4) Turn ESP back on for safe driving by clicking the ESP button.

I live in MN where anything less than 2 feet of snow is a trivial event. I drove my SRT8 all winter last year with no incidents, and not one scary moment.

You may want to talk to Adam over at Eastway Chrysler, one of our supporting vendors.

He's got 18" wheels that fit the SRT if you don't want to throw snows on the stock rims.

If you don't get the tire pressure sensors the TPMS will ding at you when you start and pester you every once in a while when you're driving...

hwdan.. i talked to adam, thanks. i am just on the oppostie end of canada from adam, and it's just easier and prob cheaper for me to buy locally. i also work at a dealership, so the prices are going to be cheaper if i can find out for myself, rather than buy from adam. although he has put in a lot of work and i give him props.. it'll just be cheaper for myself. if you read this adam, and you change your mind about telling me what wheels you've fitted, shoot me another pm.. haha

No actually snow experience on them yet but it has been raining quite a bit lately. They look good/hey they are snow tires. They have really good ratings.
