    Problems with Mopar lowering springs

I finally got around to having my Mopar lowering springs installed on my 05 Magnum R/T. At the same time, I had Bilstein shocks from an 09 Challenger SRT8 installed. The problem is the front was raised a half inch after the installation. The rear was lowered a half inch. Therefore, all 4 corners are right at 30" at the wheel well opening. I had a local shop do the work. The guy from the shop stated that the springs did not really look like lowering springs, when compared to OEM. The springs were new, but I did buy them 2nd hand from someone here on lxforums. He had confirmed the correct part number when I purchased them. They've were installed over a week ago. So my first question is how long should I allow for settling? And will it settle 1 1/2" to give the 1" drop from original ride height that it's supposed to? Any suggestions what the problem might be? Or am I just being impatient? I just can't imagine that these things will settle a full 1 1/2".

Here's a pic of the newly installed spring & shock. Anyone notice anything wrong?

I had the same springs installed approximately 2 months ago, using the stock front struts and replacement shocks in the rear. Initially the car waslowered an inch, as advertized. Since then, the springs have settled another 1/4" or so.

I don't have the gap at the front like you seem to have at all, mine ended up with a slight rake.

You might check with Fireman, he's very knowledgable regarding lowering springs and kits.

Yeah. It looks to me like you installed the whole front strut assembly from the Challenger. The LY platform and the LX platform are not the same. They sit at different heights. Get back to me.

The strut/shock is from the Challenger. The spring is the Mopar Magnum spring.

maybe the challenger shocks have a higher pressure, thereby pushing the car up?

I do not believe that the Bilsteins are self leveling. (not the fronts anyway)
I'm thinking that the strut length from the spring perch to the top may be taller than the oem Magnum strut.

I'm guessing this was it. I just got to work after spending the morning at the shop. Although dimensionally, the Challenger SRT8 Bilstein struts were identical to the OEM Magnum struts, the car would not go lower than 30" at the wheel arch no matter which spring we used. I even had an extra pair of srt8 springs that I cut a half a coil from. Still no change. The original ride height was 29 5/8". After putting the OEM struts back on with the Mopar lowering springs, the initial drop went down to 29". I'm sure it will settle some more. Live & learn I guess.
