Pressure on 22" low profile tires

I got a used magnum recently that came with 22" rims. The tires say max PSI is 55, which seems a little high. I was wondering if it is recommended to run them at that pressure, or whether they should be lower than 55. I would like to run them at whatever pressure will maximize the life of the tires, as I found out that 22" tires are unbelievably expensive. Thanks.

I ran 40 psi in the winter and 35 psi in the summer. 55 is way to high.

Door sill pressures are for the OEM (stock) tires.
I run my 265/35/22s @ 32 psi cold. I've had excellent tire wear and a good ride. I have found that when they're inflated to 40+psi, the ride is too rough. A lot easier to bend a wheel when hitting pot holes with those pressures. IMHO 32 - 35 psi is the sweet spot for street use.

Or not, I could be wrong.....oops!

its more easier to bend your wheel when the pressure is lower
I run 44psi in my 25 series all day.. I'd rather wear the tires out then buy new hoops for my wheels..

Mine handles better and feels more responsive to steering inputs at 42 to 45 psi. Can tell a loss in handling and the potential for a bent rim at about 37 psi.....I am also dropped on KWV1 with Hotchkis sways btw....

I like 40+ -- mine are 39 cold right now, and they warm up to about 43 on the highway.

And as been said, the higher the pressure the more protection for the rims.
