Are powerslot rotors a worthy upgrade?

    http://estore.websitepros.com/802805/Detail.bok?no=982

(Front brakes only) My stock rotors are fine but the pads squeal and grind a little so I'm getting the Hawk HPS pads and I was thinking about getting the slotted powerslot rotors for looks and performance, are they worth it? will they reduce the stopping distance? if not, I can use the money for other mods.

Joseph I got these two months ago and they look nice but I have not installed yet because my originals were still hanging in even with all the groaning and such. They are our original OEM rotors with slots in them...they are made by Bosch....If I install in next couple weeks I'll report back

Have they been proven to reduce stopping distances over stock?

That's the main reason I would do the upgrade, because if all they gonna do is look good and make me spend $300 for nothing, then I won't get them, I'll get my stock rotors cut and if they're too thin for that, then I'll get the powerslots.

They may not decrease you stopping power in a single pump but what they are going to do is stay cooler, tend to bite harder for a longer time and when you are on and off the brakes a lot you will run less of a chance of warping your rotors.

I am thinking of getting a set of vented/cross drilled because they I drive into work eats up brakes. In 2 years on my last car I had 3 brake Jobs and a new set of rotors placed on it and Now I am driving a car 2000lbs heavier on the same road and I have to be heating them up something fierce.

Don't get cross drilled rotors, the have less braking surface and they WILL increase your stopping distance.

I was going to go to the powerslot rotors, but after talking to their distributor I decided not to. They are VERY expensive $147 EACH and only carry a 30 day warranty.

I did some checking around and found a company called "Brake Performance" out of California. I ordered their front rotors, slotted and dimpled, not drilled, black zinc coated for rust protection and a Lifetime warranty, 100%. $ 253 A PAIR !!

The pads were $84 and shipping was FREE ! That's a 50 pound box from California to NY for free !! Plus no tax. If I ordered the Powerslots I would have had to pay for shipping and tax. $$$$$

I put these on today and what a difference fron the OEM crap that warped after 18,000 miles. Check them out:

I saw them before, got them from E-bay right? Pretty nice rotors!

I don't want drilled, reduces the braking surface area, it will increase your stopping distance.

Looks good, I'll go with them I think, I really wanted Hawk HPS pads, are their pads as good as the HPS?

Also, are they unidirectional rotors, do they say "Right" and "left" on the rotors, if so, can you take a picture of how they fit on the right front side, I'd like to see which way the slots are facing.

I like the slots going all the way to the oustide of the rotor, that's a good thing not many do, because when it cleans the pad it will carry out all the crap and won't be stuck there at the end.
I'll go with the silver coated rotors and paint them red with what I have leftover from painting the calipers.

    thanks for the info.

No I did not get them from Ebay. Found them on the web. I haven't seen what you are talking about. The new rotor and brake setup stops much better than the OEM setup on my Charger R/T R&T.

JOSEPH.....No they weren't uni-directional. The slots didn't go all the way to the edge of the rotor, I don't beliveve any of them do. The thing I liked is instead of being cross-drilled, they are "dimpled" very lightly.

Plus they are 100% Zinc coated, black or silver. This isn't just a spary on coating, they are fully immersed. And the pads I believe were the HAwks, I'd have to check.

If you buy a "package" of all 4 rotors, the pads are free ! Not a bad deal seeing how shipping is free and there's a lifetime warranty.
