    Powdercoat boo boo..pics attached

I needed to get some advice.

I finally decided to get my Sevas powdercoated flat black..they look great.

But heres whats messed up the douche bag did not remove the rivets and powdercoated them with the rivets...on...they melted....

So we managed to scrape all the melted rivets off the wheel and had them re powdercoated at no charge....look awesome...but there is 30 holes on each wheel.

But my question is...because Sevas is out of business ....no flaming please.

So my question is...where can i get replacement rivets?who sells them?can i use generic chrome ones?

    The originals were like fasteners.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would contact any wheel company currently making 3 piece wheels and see if you can buy some of their fasteners.

You should be able to contact any forged wheel company and purchase new screws. Just make sure you tell them that you had to take them apart and get repainted and you wanted to replace there screws, nuts, etc. Just make sure if you call a specific wheel company, you tell them you have there wheels. So have the model info ready.
This past winter/spring I had taken my 3 pc wheels apart for sand lasting and repowder coating.
Pm jackiert and he can give you the direct # to Makavelli and you can buy it from them. I'm not to sure if sizes vary. Check with mak, if you call them. Good luck!

SS button head cap screws instead perhaps? You'll need lock nuts but might be an idea.

I am assuming these wheels are not 3 piecers. If they are, he would have had the bolts out to have the parts powdered individually. Also, would 3 piece wheels come with plastic screws? Or could they have decorative plastic covers for each bolt? I have been pm'ing with Manny, he is at the shop now trying to remove the melted plastic pieces prior to repowder.

Not to hijack but since its on the same topic I figured I would ask

I planned on dropping off my Foose nitrous wheels to get powdercoated in the next week, and they too have chrome'ish silver rivets around the entire rim but I know for a fact they are not 3 piece wheels. Does that mean I cannot powder these wheels or can I still somehow remove them?

When Ernie at 402 told me they were plastic, I took the bold step to pull one out. My wheels are at the bottom of the feed trough. But Ernie made it sound like most, caution the word most, non-3piecers have plastic decorative fake bolts. You may need to attempt to drill through one, If it is plastic the bit will cut right through it. If steel, the bit will give you small metal shavings. Then the powder will cover up that small nick on the one you picked.

Just my thoughts, but you would hate to be in Mannys' predicament.

    Here are my plastic rivets/bolts.

Here is some stuff I just picked up googling:

Never use A1 Powder Coatings, Southampton
Just in case anyone is thinking of using A1 Powder Coatings in Southampton to refurbish their wheels think again!..........

I dropped off my 4 wheels at A1 on the 24th August and ewas told to pick up on 6th Sept as they couldn't get teh paint until the next week. So I go to pick up on the 6th and the Guy there who told me they would be ready surprise surprise, was not there, managed to find out that they were still not ready! Asked whent hey would and they said next Tuesday 11th.

So after calling and calling on monday to make sure they would be ready I eventually got a call back to say that the nuts on the wheel (fake split rims) were plastic and shattered whilst shot blasting the wheels. So went over on Tuesday anyway to discuss the way ahead and they said they would get some new bolts sprayed up and fitted to the wheels. I arranged to pick them up Friday afternoon that week (12pm). Called on Thursday to make sure they would be ready and was told 2pm. Turned up at 2:15pm Friday and my wheels were STILL not ready, but were on a bench outside with some guy filing down some bolts then spraying then gluing to the wheels! I pointed out a chip in the wheel finish, then went to town nearby to kill time...

It was another 2 hours before I got the wheels into the back of my other motor, I never noticed the chip anymore. Got the wheels home and on closer inspection saw the chip had been hand sprayed with a SIMILAR colour and fine paint spots all over the new finish! AND to top it all off I had 3 Left side wheels and 1 rightside wheel (directional tyres) All this for £300!!!!!

Never Again! They had my wheels for over 3 weeks and rushed the job in the last few days couldn't even buy some bolts to fit the existing wheel holes and had to grind them down! The wheels look ok but crappy on close inspection and shocking customer service!

Like stated in the thread title, i would like to know if any one has any idea what size the "fake bolts" are on this wheel? they do thread in and out so its not like they just stick on. And also, do i need a special tool to remove them? or will a normal socket set work?..... TIA

Most reps have a counter hole, and the have fake plastic revits... You can remove them by finding the right 12 point socket and spining them, which frees up any glue.. I've done a few, but just not this wheel

Randy...right on they are 1 piece wheels...well we have taken them out ..all 120 rivets ...it was hell...now we are in the process of repowdercoating the wheel.

If there is some crap left in the holes after the coat...i will have to get some more advice.

I dont have much patience...this was hell.

I am now back at the coaters.....would u guys pay this guy at all? or a portion?

I feel like stiffing this guy but at the end of the day...i am partially to blame as well as i should have done my research before i dropped them off.

On a side note they dont look half bad without the rivets..I will post pics with both the melted rivets and now that they are rivetless.

Also would it be a problem that we have done 2 coats?does this make the wheel heavier?

In the first stage,he primed it then Powdercoated it.

Now that i used my own labor to get the rivets out..i am assuming he gonna airblast the wheels so he gets rid of any debris and put them back in the oven.

Sounds good. Guess both parties have learned a lesson. It would be hard for me not to give a bit, but either way I hope the job comes out well.

Well it took 2 of us 2.5 hours...and these were melted rivets...it was next to impossible to get them out in 1 piece...would get 80% and then would have to scrape the 20% of the rivet.

So you shoulf be fine...best of luck,.

I had fun doing mine. It was a real cutomizing effort. The drill bit and steel rod worked perfect for the plastic rivets.

    http://lxforums.com/board/showthread.php?t=147312

But then again your rims are Foose, a bit higher up the feed trough. They may not need to be removed. But honestly, can you see any wheel maker that would put steel rivets/bolts over plastic decorative? The bulk price difference for steel to plastic for any wheel maker is reason enough.
