Powder coat or paint rims.

Powder coat is by far the more durable coating. Only problem is color matching and shine. If you are trying to color match to your car it can be difficult and even though there are gloss powders, it may not be as bright as a paint/clear coat polished and buffed.

Painted wheels if done correctly can perform quite well. But the upkeep from brake dust is a big requirement.

There are some pretty good wheel paints out there. (Duplicolor is one) It's all in the prep work. If done correctly, you can have very good results painting wheels.

Powdercoat is more durable than paint... however if you have plastic center caps they cant powder them

PC is better.....but I must say if the prep job is good....paint will hold up good. My two-tone sevas S10's I just sold were painted almost 2 years ago...and they look damn good......

powder coat is far superior......both substances need good prep work, but powder is much more durable. the really nice thing now a days, is that powder coating colors have become more and more like paint color choices. i had my stock srt wheels powder coated in the same brilliant black color as my paint. dead perfect!!! three years and these things still look like new and clean up is a breeze!!!

How much should i expect to pay for powder coating the entire rim?

PC is pretty cheap now a days due to the simplicity of it. Hell, Craftsman even sells a kit you can do it yourself. You're just limited to the size of the oven you have. I've already powdercoated smaller item on my Harley and they turn out great! I'd expect somewhere in the neighborhood of $200 for all four wheels. Depending on what prep work that needs to be done. Sandbasting, filling, etc....I paid $525 to have mine painted about a year ago and they already need to be redone do to curb rash, not the paints fault but when I get them redone I'll be PC'ing them instead. Much more durable to solvants, greases, and scratches.
