    Plus Zero Tires?

I have a 2005 Magnum RT (RWD) and as some of you know, the tire selection for stock rims leaves much to be desired. I was wondering if anyone has gone to a zero over 255/55-18 instead of the stock 225/60-18. I'm personally fond of Kuhmo Ecsta's but wonder how they hold up to the greater bulk of the Magnum Chassis (as a point of reference, my last car was a Dodge Avenger, slightly smaller at around 3000lbs).

Just re-shoed about 6 weeks ago to FALKEN 255/55/18's -- I swear it took the car some time to adjust -- these are heavier tires and broader footprint, so it felt sticky / sluggish at first. They are doing fine now. By my calculation, they are about 1/2" larger diameter than stock.

I am in need of tires also and will be going with the B F Goodrich G-force T/A KDW N/T's in size 255X55X18 soon, probably next week.

They seem to be the tire of choice for our cars.

Have 22K on my stock Conti's.

I have the BFG KDW 255/55/18 on my R/T.
They have been rode hard and look amazingly good for over 30K miles.
The left front is a bit melted from the Willow Springs track tho!!

The SC FP tuner will get your speedo reading correctly.

I just got the Dunlop 5000 255/55/18 on my car and really like them although I do have less than 1/4 clearance. I like the wide look and the tire seem to me very quiet.

hey everyone, here is what we have been doing and have had great response with this size. we use a 245 55 18, which is approx. 28.61" in overall diameter give or take a little depending on the tire mfg. and the stock tires are approx. 28.63" give or take a little depending on mfg. so this size is much closer to the stock diameter than the 255 55 18 that many of you are using which is approx. 29.04" give or take a little. so the 255 55 18 does affect your speedo, traction control, ABS, TCM, and anything else that runs off the proper rotation speed of the tires. There are not as many tires to choose from in this 245 55 18 size and they are a bit more expensive that the 255 55 18s that are available but we have sold a lot of the BF Goodrich KDWS, its an Ultra High Performance All Season tire, and everyone we have sold them to has been pleaased with their performance, comfort level and low road noise. We also have had a few people go with a 265 40 18, which is a bit wide for those thin stock rims but they go on fine. they have an overall diameter of approx. 26.35, a little lower than stock. just some food for thought. good luck with your decisions. feel free to call us if you need tires or have other wheel and tire quesitons and as always if anyone is in Atlanta and needs to use our lift its available. jus give us a call and let us know you are on the way. 1-877-859-2571. oh, check out our "meet and greet" post planned for Feb. with some free track time at a local track.

All the research that I have done shows the stock contis at 28.00Dia. That is the 22/60-18's. I am thinking of going with 245-50/18's from Kuhmo, they are rated at a 27.7" dia.

The store I went to could have had them in 2 days also, but it would have cost me a little extra. Since I am in no hurry, they are shipping them by their own truck - which will take about 10 days to get here.

    Thanks anyway,

    What'd you get - the KUHMO's?

Let me know how difficult to get the speedo changed -- haven't done mine.

I have the 255/55 on my ride..................wife likes these tires MORE than here KDW's. They are Coopers............I never thought I would be a Cooper fan; but I am now!

Wife is riding on 245/45 and there is a HUGE difference..............her car jumps out of the hole!

BUT, they are harsher, noisy, and such..............while, if we were truely RACING, her tires will win.................but for day to day, the Coopers rock with no real loss in performance on the street.

hey Karfreek, just an FYI for you, the measurement you have on the Contis is a misprint by Continental and since all of their vendors get their info. from Conti, they all have the same misinformation. check around on the forum and you will see several other people will confirm this as well. in fact if you call continental they will tell you as well. they have rectified it on their website as far as i know but everyone who got their info. from Conti have not all made the correction. the 245 50 18 you are talking about at 27.7 is going to be about an inch smaller than it should be and is going to have a lot of adverse affects on your car, i.e. speedo, ABS, traction control, TCM and anything else that runs off the correct rotation of the tire. a 245 55 18 is the correct size. just thought id let you know before you spend good $$$ on the wrong size tires.
