    Painting my wheels....HELP

Alright .... after going around town and getting qoutes in the range of 500-750 to get my 24" face painted I am contemplating painting them myself but was wondering the difficulty level..

I have read the thead on jeep forums:

    http://jeepforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=408085

but the difference between the thread and my wheels is that I want to match my car paint which is magnesium ppk.

My wheels arent chrome they have a black face with the polished alloy lip.

Will I still be able to do this myself or should i just cough up the mula!!

let m e know yall thanks!

You might have to just spend the $700 bucks to get it matched.

I say go for it. You can get the supplies (primer, paint, clear coat, spray gun, sanding supplies, rent a compressor if you don't have one) for a lot less. Then you get the experience of doing it yourself. PM Texas Tran as he did his with advice from one of our great vendors. He said it was a challenge well worth the undertaking. It took hours of work but they came out looking outstanding. You can do it. Go man Go!

This is the paint my painter used on my SRT8 hood. Was dead on for stone white and is a top quality paint. It technically does not require a clear coat, but can be cleared and I would recommend.

And this may be the place to start.

With all the talk of "being green" and protecting the environment I am amazed that the "layman" can purchase "professional" refinish products over the internet. Professional products have isocyanates in them and can be potentially very toxic to the user witout the proper training and air supplied respirator. I guess I wasted my money on my 60K downdraft heated spraybooth....

Agreed, it is serious bizz and all precautions should be adhered to. My apologies if I encouraged backyard painting, just trying to help a member.

No apology required, I'm just pointing out that painting isn't as easy or as safe as people think it is.

Must have, because you can buy any type of paint you want either locally or over the internet.

On the other hand painting is not as easy as it looks. If you dont do the right prep and use the right tools your results will show that. Quality paint isnt cheap either.

I paid the money Andrew. It's costly but I'm more than happy with the turnout. PERFECT match.
Yeah, it cost a grip just to do that on top of the ridiculous price of the Asantis, but there's no regrets.
Yes you can do it yourself, but I recommend letting a pro do it every time.
