Nitto 555 drag radial experience opinions..

Looking at the Nitto 555 DRs in 275/40-17 as they are about 50 bucks cheaper (each) than MT ET Streets, plus I can get a package deal on them with the Voxx Anconca at discounttiredirect. Are they worth the savings or do they suck?

Will pretty much be a strip only wheel/tire combo.

ET Streets are a LOT better tire..............especially if only used at the track. Nittos are pretty much the hardest compound DR and are aimed more for street use.

Ok, roger that, I figured as much.

Here's the other thing though, I am a little (maybe too much) concerned about 1/2 shaft breakage once all the mods are done....

Ssoooo....I'm thinking the Nittos may slip enough to help cushion the 1/2 shafts but still hook better than a regular radial.

Is that Logical? or NOT! ?

    Thanks

Truly hard to say but almost all of the halfshaft breaks have been with a slip then grab scenario off the line, if I were you dump the money into the ET streets you will be much happier with your results.

i have run the nitto 555r in 305/45/18 on the voxx rims. it didnt do a whole lot for my 60 foot times 1.86 was my best on those.

i switched to the MT ET streets 26 x11.5 x17

this seems to be a stickier tire but also a shorter and lighter setup than the 18 inchers. i have been able to go 1.78 60 foot with these

I still run the Nittos on Voxx wheels and have similar results as John.
