Exclamation New tire from Discount Tire.

I started up my Magnum this morning to drive in to work and the TPMS went off and I got a ding. I have the base TPMS so I had to look around to see which tire was low. It was my right rear tire. It was down to 24 psi. I would never have known if it wasn't for TPMS. I love this car!

So I put some air in it to get it to 37 psi and I checked all around to see if I could find a nail or screw or something. I saw nothing. I went ahead and drove into work. No issues but something had to be up because a tire does not loose that much pressure on its own.

I found a Discount Tire that had one 18" OEM Goodyear tire instock and made an appt. I went over there and they couldn't see anything either until they put it under water. There was a slow leak from the tread way over towards the side. Still couldn't see anything sticking out. They removed the tire and sure enough there was a screw.

The tire could not be repaired due to the location of the screw (that always seems to happen to me). So I bought a new tire ($151) as well as a 4 tire warranty ($100). The total was $282 with installation and tax.

The tire warranty will cover all 4 tires. If I get a puncture and they can't repair it the most I will pay is $41. I know I will get another puncture. I've never driven a car in Tucson without getting multiple punctures. A few months ago I had my Durango in for a nail in the tire.

If anyone is buying a new car I highly recommend taking it over to a Discount Tire and getting the tire warranty. Dodge/Chrysler does not take care of tires. They will refer you to Goodyear. Goodyear will only replace a tire under warranty if it's defective. If I had gotten this tire warranty in the first place I would be out $41 instead of $282 right now.

Also, I have to give thumbs up to Discount Tire. They used a 21mm socket on their air tool. They have 110 ft/lbs listed as the torque spec. for the lugs. They took care of my TPMS sensors. They put my special air valve cap back on.
