Talking New 22" wheels, First impressions W/ Pic's

    Hello all,

I have had my 22" wheels and tires for a few weeks but have not the opportunity to get them mounted and installed. My oldest was impatient and wanted them on before we went to our AFL football game tonight so he took them and had them mounted. When I got home he was all ready and had the floor jack and the impact out ready to go, we installed them in about 15 minutes. The tire are Pirelli SCORPION ZERO Asimmetrico 265/35-22 front and 285/30-22's on the rear, the wheels are Ace Mack's 22"X9.5" all Chrome.

My first ride impressions were that the front end seemed light, almost as if there were no wheels on the car, more on this latter. There was about the same road noise as the crappy Conti's but the handling was much improved. There are parts of our neighborhood streets which are still pretty bad from the winter here in Utah and are still very rough. The worst parts of the road were about the same as the Conti's but the you could feel more of the road irregularities. Not anything bad just different. I took my son home and for a small drive after, I noticed the road noise would disappear more with a little speed and was getting better all of the time. I went home and decided to check the tire pressure on the EVIC (we did install the tire pressure sensors) and noticed that they had put any where from 45 to 48 pounds of pressure in the tires. This morning I got up early to change the tire pressure before my way to work to get a better impression. I lowered the pressure to 38 pounds in all tires. The ride and feel was much better and I would have to say in some ways it is better then with the 18" Conti's. I was very concerned about the ride with 22"'s here in Utah because of the sometimes terrible roads after winter.

I have to say I am very happy with my choice of tire and the wheels look great if I say so myself.

The wheels are 22"x9.5" 's, but the tires are 265/35-22 front and 285/30-22 rear. So it is a staggered setup without the staggered wheels.
