    Magnum SXT Tire wear

I have a 2005 MAgnum SXT that has 55,000 miles on is on the 4th set of tires. The dealership replaces them at no cost but they keep wearing on the outside edges. They have aligned the car everytime the tires are changed and at different intervals but to no luck. I have tried 2 different styles of Goodyears, a Pirelli and now have Michilin Hydroedge on there. The dealer is little or no help and reginal service manager has tried to help but still no luck. I know the problems with the Contentinal tires but is anyone else having problems with the 2005 SXT?

we have a 2005 sxt with the goodyear integrity, and at 39,000 miles, they look fine (dang it). there is some wear at the outside edges, but not enough that warrant replacement.

I'd suggest having someone else align it. You know, maybe someone that knows what they're doing.

If you can solve your problem, then what is the need of worrying? If you cannot solve it, then what is the use of worrying?

Funny you should bring this up!

I noticed the same thing on my left front! As of recent I've been complaining about a noise coming from somewhere, more or less sounding like a thumping in the right front. I took Tony for a ride and he said it was the right rear. My friend Nick noticed Sunday my left front seems like it was shaved in a few spots. While there are no bubbles in the tires and the car is fine, I just drove it 2000+ miles, that's the only thing I could thing the noise is coming from.

up your tire pressure 5lbs all around... see if that helps some. these cars are heavy, and passenger car tires "squat" pretty bad already.

Try to find a good alignment shop that will let you watch. I had my car realigned after the Pedders bushings and the guy said the camber is way out on the front and it's impossible to adjust. Wrong, we loosened the upper control arms and, surprise, the Pedders bushings are adjustable. Sometimes alignment guys will take a shortcut because they typically get paid by the job. I can't adjust this is the wrong answer.

    Tires

I contacted the dealership today because they aligned the car and it steers to the right. They have to order a part for the front end to adjust the caster. I am suspect of this because the tires they took off were the same size shape and design but different manufacture as was on it. I will see when they fix it. Love the car but not real happy with dealership.

Are they doing their job in alignment. If they keep doing that you will just have problems. Better go to an alignment shop.
