Lower your Magnum and tire profile easily

Hope you think it's funny, I didn't! Note the nice big holes in the tires and rim carnage. I don't recommend having your wife cut off into a median. Everyone's ok so that's the main thing, wheels & tires are easily replaced.

Wow! I bet this *significantly* increases road feel and responsiveness...

And appears to be a relatively inexpensive mod, even if it is rather irreversable...

What makes it even funnier is that no, nobody stopped, she didn't get the license plate, and it isn't covered by insurance. Got hooked up with some RT wheels & tires from one of our Pac. NW LX brothers though so will save some $ over the dealer retail.

You know what, since the mod I haven't even taken it for a test spin, I've just had it sat there, admiring the work. Free to do and only takes a second or two!

I'm glad your wife is okay.

I'd say drive it. The wheels are only flat on the bottom.

The Magnum has a soul. It has a personality, something all too lacking in the automotive transportation appliances everybody else is offering.

I think the damage has something to do with the curb around the meridian, although I never thought about the grass! The holes in the tires I can put my hand through too, a little scary but magnums aren't light.
I like your attitude Fohn Jargo, glass half full, tires half full!

Where's Abiline anyway, I'm in Texas fairly regularly?

I think that's one mod that I'll pass on (at least I hope I do)!

Did she go over a curb or something? I sure hope there isn't any suspension damage. That had to have been a hard hit... whatever it was that blew out both tires like that!

Just curious... why wouldn't insurance cover that?

Hey LowGo, I just reposted. There is a sloped curb around the meridian and she probably was braking very hard doing about 40mph when she hit. I think the combo of speed and weight was enough, although it started me wondering about all the bad press the Conti's get, the sidewalls may not be as thick as others.
Our insurance, unless you want to pay a premium next year, will only cover accidents that are someone elses fault. If we had got the vehicle's license plate or anyone had stopped who witnessed it we would only pay a deductible. Not great but understandable.

It couldn't be handled as an unavoidable road hazard? Your insurance company should be glad that she was able to avoid wrecking much much worse.... hmm. Maybe time for a new insurance company?

At the very least this is a good time to see what is out there in terms of attractive rims... you don't have to go bigger if you don't want to, but there may be something out there that flips your switch!

I like that approach quarky 42 but the flip side is that anyone could claim something similar happened even if they ran into the median on purpose. In British Columbia, insurance is handled by the government so everyone has the basics through the same agency. You can get extended through private firms but its not a huge savings and you have 2 companies to deal with then when a claim does come along.
I would love a set of new rims, particularly the SRT's but right now I need to get her back on the road asap and I'm getting 2 RT rims with tires on Saturday from another LX'er for far less $$ than new rims and tires. It was only 2 of the 4 that are trash but otherwise I would love to upgrade to 20's or 22's.

I saw that... right after I made my last post!

With such a hard hit, make sure you get the suspension checked out. I'd be surprised it the alignment isn't at least out. Hopefully nothing else got damaged.

Oh yeah, I didn't respond to that. I was planning on just driving it to see how it feels after I put the new wheels on, any thoughts? I had a good look underneath but that's not to say things aren't damaged.
