I have swollen nuts (of the lug variety)

5 of my lugnuts are swollen and need to be replaced. Since Chrysler uses 2 piece lugnuts, moisture gets between the 2 pieces and causes the outer piece to swell. I thought about just getting replacements from the dealer, but I don't want to have to replace my lugnuts everytime they swell. Does anyone know if any aftermarket lugnuts for the LXs with the 18" stock rims? I'm looking to find a one piece lugnut.

    Thanks!

You should be able to get them from any major tire retailer. Discount Tire is a supporting vendor here now.

I worked on a Ram truck recently that had 15 of 20 that were swollen.

ahh yes. the old SOS (swollen nut syndrome) has plagued chrysler products for years.

our dealership can't seem to keep wheels on new vehicles. any new vehicle left overnight without locking wheel nuts will undoubtedly be missing some wheels by the morning. for this reason, we install locking wheel nuts on all new vehicles as soon as they come off the truck. this leaves us with 4 spare lug nuts per vehicle which we dump in a big barrel. we call it "the big barrel of nuts".

whenever we service a vehicle with swollen nuts, we replace them as needed, no charge.

    Now I have Gorilla Nuts

After doing some research, I've decided to order some Gorilla Nuts from our supporting vendor, HHP. This is the 5th time that my mechanic couldn't find a good replacement part, but within half an hour good 'ol LX forums, I found what I was looking for. Here's what I decided to get:

They're much cheaper than the dealer's nuts and they shouldn't swell like the dealer's nuts. I think the dealers are just plain nuts for selling their nuts at such a high price! Nuckin' Futs, I say!
