HELP a nubie LX owner out!!

Grab a fresh beer, this could get long winded...

I am banging my head against the wall here... i dont know why i have to be so darn picky with tires...
For the last two weeks i have been looking for the "perfect tire" for my 06 Mag R/t (stock R/T 18's) . Currently it has the craptastic Conti's in the 225/60 size.. a little lacking in the appearance and performance department if you ask me. The backs are down to the wear bars (got 23K on them though), so i kinda need to move along with this decision...

So here is what i have (in my mind anyways) as responsable opionions.
*I live in Dallas area, so snow is not that big a deal, but we do plan to make a drive to Wisconsin this Christmas to see the bosses (IE: wife's) fam... very REAL possibility that there will be snow.
*I like the idea of a "summer tire" aka "performance tire", but am open to looking at "touring" tires as well
*I "think" i can figure out what tire best fits my needs, IF i can figure out what SIZE looks best.
*I will be ordering a Diablo within the week, so changing tire/speedo calibration will not be a problem
*I like directionals, mainly due to the stupid amount of 70+mph highway driving i do, and would like to feel more under control than "reg" tread patterns can deliever when the wet stuff starts falling heavily... this may be another one of my hang ups...

I like the 255/50/18 size, due to the specs, it is a little over an 1" wider, and about a 1/2' shorter. However, there are very few tire options in this size (pirelli, and nitto invo so far to my searching abilities)

next is the 245/55/18's, same exact height, and 3/4" wider..
netting us even fewer options.... the BFG KDWS, and.... that's about it.

the 255/55/18 seem to be popular (by default i am afraid), because it nets us more tire options... truck tires albeit, but more options.... I am afraid this size will look to "beefy", and may distract, or stick out as not perportional to the car's lines. How is the ride/handleing of this larger/stiffer tire? I may be wrong here too...

So, what i am asking for ultimately is... I NEED PICTURES of your tire's, with the size tire you are running, what YOU think about YOUR choice, and if you would have done something different what would it have been?....Why am i making this SO HARD.... also trying to keep this topic more for the stocker 18" guys. PLEASE HELP!

    Time for another

I like the old school look, I have a set of BF Goodrich Gforce 255/55 on my stock "powder coated black" wheels don't ask for picture I don't have any.
according to http://www.miata.net/cgi-bin/tirescgi heres the size comparison

    Tire Size Comparison

Oh the ride quality was outstanding with these. I'm running 265/45/20s now on 300srt replicas both sets of tires fill up the wheel wells nicely

They stopped making the BFG KDW in a 255x55x18 size, even the 245x55x18 are getting hard to find.

Look at General Grabbers UHP in a 255x55x18 size.

Or the Toyo Proxies ST in a 255x55x18 size.

i just did the GY eagle response edge in a 235/60/18. It is much beefier, almost too tall imho... there isnt much room between the control arm and the inside of the tire either... do you guys running the 255/55's have to use spacers? I am digging the width, but having 2nd thoughts on the height... should of done the 235/55's i think.. pics later, baby is hungry... bottle time
