Help needed, drop SRT front only

    Hey There,

I finished installing a 300 SRT suspension on my 05 Magnum RT. The rear sits PERFECT but the front is too high and I want a slight rake. Suggestions? Cut springs, remove an isolator? Buy replacement front springs only? I only see sets of springs and no front only for sale.... Need some advise...

Some have taken off 1/2 coil on the fronts to compensate for the different knuckle from the SRT front spindle. But, they also say do not take more than 1/2 coil off as you will make the spring unusable. I have not done it myself, and have the same issue, but it is only 1/4 or 1/2" off.

Cutting 1/2 a coil was the idea, I got talked into trying it the way it is... Has anyone ran the front with 1/2 coil cut AND no bottom isolator? I want the nose down a little, not a level ride. With the finger measurement I can put one finger between the rear tire and fender at the top and 3 fingers on the front between tire and fender. Yes, I did run the car over speed bumps, etc to allow it to settle.

I've ran with the 1/2 cut coil for many, many miles. No issues. Do not run without the isolator. But what you can do is remove the fingers (whatever they're called) on the isolator, smooth it out, that's good for another 1/4".

Cam, Sounds like what I'll be doing, thanks for the tips! My rear springs are 300 SRT and I think they sit the car even lower than Maggie SRT springs. If this doesn't do it, any other suggestions? I do want to keep the front Bilstiens if there is a different front spring that will work with it.

Why do you say do not remove the isolator? I am running without it and it's fine, no weird sounds or harshness.

I would rather pull the isolator to get the mild drop needed before I cut a coil. Just my .02

The problem with the front spring is the shock can only handle so much drop before it's bottoming out. I got greedy with my front spring one time and dropped it another 3/4". That lead to several problems including blowing out the shock. But other guys have ran these shocks with lowering springs and done fine or at least I never heard different.

Steel on steel is not good bud. It'll eat it's self up and I'm very suprised to hear it's not noisy. I'd suggest you might wanna keep an eye on it.

Any Pedders drop spring users input? Perhaps I need to contact Pedders and see what they offer...

The front SRT springs are the same, the struts are different part numbers for Mag or 300 and Left/Right

But the steel on steel doesn't actually move, I could see if the spring shifted constantly on the steel but it's stationary.

I know on any of the trucks I have worked on or lowered (gm's mainly) the coil sits directly in the coil pocket with no rubber isolators. I am picky as hell and if I heard ANY noise the isolators would go back in but I don't even hear a peep. Other guys who suggested that I run no isolators have mentioned that they also have not heard any noises.

Not true. The 300 SRT is softer. The Charger/Magnum SRTs share spring rates and shocks, with the rear springs on the Mag. about 1/2" taller. This is why many are looking to cut the front springs after installing 300/Charger SRT susp. on a Magnum.

So, Is that meaning it would be lower in the front with Charger/Magnum SRT springs instead of 300 SRT springs?

Not necessarily. The height of the springs is the same in front between the 3 SRT models, just the rate on the 300 is softer. The rear is where the difference is. If you install Charger/300 SRT springs on a Magnum, the rear height would be ~.5" lower than where the Magnum SRT rear springs would put the car (because of the taller Mag. SRT rear springs).
