    Hand sanding rotors?

Installing new brake pads tomorrow was considering sanding down the rotors with 120grit block, they look in pretty decent shape to me and I dont have the money to have them resurfaced. Any advice like which direction to sand them and if 120 is too fine or rough? I goggled this and a website recomended I use a scotchbright pad and scuff the surface of the rotor, but that seems a little rough to me, you guys are the authority and my bible when it comes to anything auto related, who better to trust than a fellow LX'er.

If your just doing it for the glaze Scotchbrite will be fine.Work in a circular motion so there is no particular direction on the rotor face, and make sure you bed the brakes!

You dont have the money to resurface them? Exactly how much are they charging to resurface the rotors? It really shouldnt cost much at all. Hell, if you were local to me, Id do em for free for ya.

Really though, a parts store or mechanic's shop shouldnt really be asking for a whole lot of money here.

But as has been stated, turning the rotors might not even be all that necessary if they dont look to bad, and like Hemi31 said, bedding the brakes is key.

What I have done is to use an air powered angle grinder with scotch brite pads to de-glaze the rotors.I used the method descibed above and had no problems,D.
