Eibach Pro-Line question

I just lowered my CSRT8 with the Eibach Pro-Line kit, I didn't install new shocks, but my question is has anyone heard about trimming the bump stops in the shocks in the rear. My buddy helped me and hes done a few before and told me that we need to trim half the bump stop on the shock. Also we only reinstalled one of the factory rubber stops, any issues? It dropped about 1 3/4" what a difference.

hmm. thought the srt8s had the self-leveling rear shocks (nivomats). didn't know that would work. saw a daytona tonight with lowering springs with nivomats and the rear sat considerably higher.

If your question is Should you cut the bump stop, your answer is yes. Taking for granted you don't have Nivomats

If the nivomats self level than whats the issue with lowering other than the rod being to short and bottoming out?

As far as I know there is no Sportline for the Charger, so Pro Kit as far as the part numbers dictate

The nivomats won't allow the car to settle onto the springs fully. The niovomats are made to keep the rear of the car at the pre determined height. (stock springs)
When the springs are changed, (lowering springs) the nivomats will keep the rear up.
Here's an example. Below is my Magnum. 2 pictures, both with Eibach Sportline springs 2" drop. The first pic is with the Nivomat shocks, the second pic with the Eibach pro dampers. Notice how the rear is elevated in the first pic. That's because the nivomats won't allow the rear to drop fully onto the springs. Once the nivomats were taken out (second pic) the rear dropped another 1.5"
The pro-kit spring aren't as drastic a difference, but you get the idea. Besides, when you replace the nivomats for good dampers, the ride and handling gets better.

I think I finally got it, thank you, so you can lower it, it just wont settle correctly. I don't know if I want it that low, my wife will surely know then and kill me. Are the Eibach dampers the way to go or is the Koni set up better?

It wont lower, period. Not with self leveling shocks. You can put lowering springs on, but the car will not lower.

I haven't used Koni shocks since I had my Trans Am back in the 80's. I have been using the Eibach pro dampers on my Magnum and I love them.

Well I dropped over an inch with my nivomats on so I dont think its impossible. I can put some picutres up but I dont have any before pics. I took the upper isolators out so maybe thats why mine actually worked. I'm going to put the koin's in and see if I need to take out the other isolator too. I dont think the Eibach are near the quality that the Koni's are. Koni shocks were always made to be on lowered cars as were the Bilstein's thats why they have a shorter rod. I know the Eibach were made to work with the kit but still untested as far as I'm concerned.

if you are running the nivomats with a lowwering spring the shock will break. it will have more load weight on it then it can handle. as for the bump stop, just cut it. hell the cars with airbags remove it all together.

You don't want to take the isolators out

Why not just do it right?
