Eibach pro dampers and ride height

Here's the brief story. A few months ago I got the sportlines installed on my car. I was told that my stock dampers were in good shape and that I didn't need to replace them yet. So I went with the suspension guys advice. I have had no issues at all and I have been a proponent of spreading the word that it's not required to have your dampers replaced when you go with the sportlines. Well, since I've had the sportlines on, I've been a little unhappy with the ride height.(rear a little too high) Calls to Eibach and a couple different shops and this forum led me to believe that the resulting drop from a spring install could vary from car to car. Never would I have ever thought that the stock dampers were not allowing my car to realize it's full drop with the sportlines. Apparently that's exactly what it was. For the heck of it and because I had a few extra dollars I went ahead and bought the Pro dampers and had them installed yesterday. I picked up my car and the mechanic says the car dropped about 3/4 inch more(rear) with the Eibach dampers. He tells me how the dampeneing effect is better suited to the springs and how the Eibachs are less stiff than the oem shocks allowing the car to settle in lower or should I say properly for the springs. So here I sit now, finally, with the ride and stance I've wanted all along. So, do you need to replace the dampers when you get sportlines? Ans. - Yes and No. No - if you want the rear a little higher. Yes - if you want to realize the full drop of your sportlines. Overall, I'm a little embarrassed and apologetic for my insistancy on the issue of dampers. Well, live and learn.

I'm on the fence, I like it both ways... seeing that I will be making this decision soon, this thread definitely gives me something to think about..

Your signature pix looks as if your entire rear tire is in the well, is that correct? What size tires are you running. I have 275 and with my offset my tire sits flush with the outside of my fender.

Thank you. I have 265/35/22 on a 22" x 9.5" wheel with a +18 offset. The tires do infact sit inside the fenders. Here's a couple more shots.

my 300 has a nice rake to it.. which I will be losing when I get the TEIN's put on..

I'm on the fence about how I feel about this.

on the plus side, without the rake I won't scrap my fascia going in and out of driveways so much, the rake causes the front to drag on inclines..

on the negative side, the car won't look as aggressive..

Looks much better now. I'm going to be putting on the Eibach pro spring and dampers I wonder how much higher mine will look.

I have a set of pro-kit springs i wanted to slap on for a while now but didnt want to do it without the dampners. I see you had the sportlines on with the stock shocks, and you said there were no problems?....I might just install the pro-kits on my stock shocks afterall. Looking real nice btw.

Yes, on a 22" x 9.5" wheel with +18 offset.

Please be aware that this was posted some time ago. I didn't know any better. I did have quite a bouncy ride. I hit the front fenders a couple times and the handling wasn't nearly what it ended up being. All these issues were remidied by installation of the Pro dampers. If I had someone tell me then, what I know now, I never would have done the Sportline springs without the dampers. The Pro kit springs that you are getting are a little softer ride and sit a little higher than the sportline springs, so you may find that the stock shocks will work out for you. Keep in mind that the stock shocks aren't made for lowering springs and you may or may not be happy with the outcome. Good thing is, you can always put the dampers in later if you want to. I want to know exactly how your shocks held the car up. They wouldn't limit the travel any. I find an additional 3/4" of drop redonkulous.

They're called Nivomat self leveling shocks...Heard of them?...I didn't think so. They are designed to keep the car at a certain height.
That's what's nice about these forums...You can learn something new everyday. Wouldn't you agree?
