    Directional Tires

I'm looking at purchasing a set (4) of directional tires but I'm concerned about tread wear because they can not be rotated other than front to back. Is this a valid concern or not? I'm considering the BFGoodrich g-Force Sport Comp 2. Thanks!

Rotating front to back (same side) should be fine, and will prolong the life of your tires (compared to not rotating them at all).

If your alignment is good, you have nothing to worry about.

I was just told that on a directional performance tire, for the best tread life and wear that you should rotate them every 3,000 mi. Wish I would have know this before I bought them and maybe I could have gotten better life out of mine. I have been running the Hankook Ventus V12 Evo K110 which is a directional tire with a 280 UTQA and have about 21,000 mi on them (1 summer). They are getting load and have a little uneven tread wear. And I had an alignment done when I put them on.
I don't think I will be getting a directional tire again. I put to many miles on my car (about 36,000/yr).
I will more than likely go with an all season performance tire next time, and rotate every other oil change.

The BF's your looking at are a 340 UTQA, so I would say as long as you rotated every oil change you may be fine.
    Just my opinion

Each winter when I take my staggered 22s off (can't go front to back), I have the tire removed from the rims, and turned around and rebalanced so the right tire becomes the left and vice versa, I don't have any unusual wear on my tires but I do think it helps with even getting one additional season out of them. (I do the same with my winter tires as well)

I run mine on one axle one season, on the other the next and then break them down and remount on the other side and repeat. By the end of season 4 they are at end of life and time to start over.

I'll NEVER own a directional tire again. Just like willy723 and karfreek said, when I ran directional, I broke my wheels down and rotated them, but damn, that's like $80 or better every time. Never again!

I like semi-semetrical tires, they look good, performance is good, and you can rotate them to any corner.

There are downsides to asymmetric tires too. Ones that are marked outside on the sidewall. You are limited on how you can rotate, but breakdown is not required.

I'm not sure I follow, how am I limited? I can rotate my any wheel/tire to any corner I want, just as any normal tire. I know I can't break them down and put the outside of the tire to the inside (they are marked "outside"), but who breaks down tires that you can fully rotate? Its not necessary if you can rotate them, and no matter how I rotate them, the tire will ALWAYS read "outside" as long as they aren't broken down and installed incorrectly.

Burn rear tires off...move fronts to rear, put new tires on front and repeat once a year ..at least that's how it's worked for me the past six years.. Damn rear tires wear out so fast !!!

Firestone Destination ST's. I've had them on for 6 months or so now, and they are really a good all around tire. I'm happy with them anyway.

All I have ever rotated was front to back for any set of tires. Directional or not.
I also have always had directional tires on most cars I have owned. In my climate I have no need for all seasons.
Even my trucks that had 31" & 33" tires I only rotated front to back.
I understand summer tires don't last long anyway. I get 20k or so out of a set. I can deal with that.
