Whats up fells, well Im getting ready to powdercoat my chrome rims. Boss 335 and Im looking to get some black lug nuts. Now I dont know If all the lugnuts are universal or what specs i need and whatnot. I do know they have a lock and they gave me the key, now would the key tell me what type of lug nuts i need?, or are they universal?....what?.

    Yessir. 60° Bulge seat.

    Here's the important specs:

Lug Nut Seat Style: Conical seat - 60 degree
    Thread Size: 14mm x 1.50 RH
    Conical Seat Taper: 60 degree
    Conical Seat Type: Bulge

What you're probably looking for is the Gorilla 91147BC (Black Chrome):

    http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

Those are black chrome, obviously, not painted or anodized black.

Here are some more matching results from Summit:

I can't say with certainty, but I sure can't think of a reason why not.

The only thing that I can think that would affect it is if the rimes are significantly thinner at the lug area than stock (like in the case of the Police Steelies, or the stock spare) - in that case, the short lugs are too short, and you should go for the longer ones. But I'd be really surprised if they are significantly thinner.

Is there a preferred brand between Gorilla or Summit?

I live in Seattle with snow probably 3-5 days/year if that makes a difference (for weather conditions), but it does rain pretty often.

I kinda get the impression that Summit makes "knock-offs" of other products, to sell as the store brand. They're nearly identical, but cheaper.

That being said, lots of guys have been running the Summits if what I've picked up in these threads is any indication, and I can't recall hearing of any problems with them. They should be just fine.

    Thanks

Looks like Summit it is.. I'm gonna have the rims on the cars tomorrow, but I'll switch out the lugnuts when they arrive.

Just in case anyone is wonder, the Summit lugnuts are listed as "black chrome" but they turned out to be more of a painted or powdercoated black -- perfect for black finish/powdercoated rims. Link below.

They're more matte than glossy. I actually think the photo on the Summit Racing site does a good job representing the finish.
