As far as I know there arent any drag slicks made in an 18" wheel size. For that matter, nothing over a 16" wheel in drag (tube type) slicks. Cheaters/Drag radials come in 17" sizes but are limited, so you first need to figure out a 16 or 17" wheel that will fit your car and them pick your poison on tire size.
Another thing is we dont have lockers or even limited slip rear diffs so traction could be a problem even with slicks. I have 285's under the rear of my car and it WONT burn out in a straight line anymore. I can still get the stink tire thing (single track) going around a corner buts that's for high school kids.

The OEM Conti's will become slicks in no time at all. Be patient for a few thousand miles.![]()
MY MEAT WILL MELT IN YOUR MOUTH....NOT IN YOUR HANDS! ENJOY THE Q.
I just ordered some 245x40x18 drag radials today. There are several companies that offer this size. My last trip to the track I could not get my 285x50x18's to hook up at all. They are also a little bigger diameter than the stock size. It could have been the track, temperatures, tires or ME but my 60 foot times were not good.
We'll see if the smaller diameter and stickier compound helps at the track this weekend. I don't think it can hurt.

65 - A few words of help.
First with a slick ( biasply ) you shoudlnt run a radial front tire. Given that I doubt your going to get skinnies for teh front stick to a drag radial.
Cheater slicks will work fine, you need to find a size you want and get them mounted. If you have teh right offset you can go out to 295ish in width, but i would suggest running a shorter tire over all if you can ( gives you a little more gear )
Hemi31 just got some wheel to mount his drag radials ( i think he even posted some picks ).
I am hoping I can get by with my 295's at Etown, but I am loosing some gear on them ( they are about an inch taller than stock ) maybe I can mooch a set for a run or two.
There really isnt a need to go with a true tube in tire type of slick on these cars, a good radial slick should work just fine.

Kim, have you run that tire yet? What are you doing for a front tire? that's nearly a 10% size differential from the stock fronts. I would hazard to guess you are going to be throwing ABS codes, and probably put the tranny control module into limp mode if you run those sizes together.

ImaThorp- I just ordered them (BFG Drag Radials 245x40x18) last night so don't actually have them on the car yet. I guess we'll find out about if the difference effects anything when I pick them up. I'm going to set the flashpac to this tire size and see what happens. If everythings OK I'm off to the track this weekend

Hmmm, this flashpaq sounds interesting. I wouldn’t have guessed it could accommodate for a 3" (79 revs/mile) swing in tire diameter and still shift the tranny properly. Also I'd be real curious to see how the 245 performs against the that same tire in the 265 size (-19 rev/mile) hardly a difference I know, but that could save an extra shift point or keep the rpms in the peak torque longer etc.
Keep us informed on how it all works out. More specifically trap speed, what gear you cross the line in and at what RPMS.

This is my setup:
Borbet Type TS rims 18" x 8.5": http://www.tirerack.com/upgrade_gara...5&autoModClar=
BFG drag radials 265/40/18 26.2" dia. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Spec.j...FA+Drag+Radial
Tire diameter is down to approx 25.9". I trap near (stock) red line in 3rd gear.
Have to really roast them to get to hook properly. May be of limited use without GSM mod/pulling fuse 17.
Worth .15 +/-.
I got the MT ET Streets and put them on a 17'' cobra bullit wheel. These are basically slicks/ very little tread...but dot approved so you can drive to the track. I can't imagine needing any more traction than these provide after a good burnout. On the normal street it is hard to get them to even spin. This setup was worth 2 tenths for me. It is very easy to cut consistent 2.0 and 1.95 60 foot times with these tires. I thought the smaller diameter in the rear would be more noticable as far as improving the gear ratio. I do not have any drivability issues w/ the bigger tires on the front and smaller in the back...i just keep the GSM trac mod engaged when running these and I'm good. It is fun to burn out as much as you want at the track knowing you aren't melting all your street tires away. I say worth the $$ and hassel to put them on before heading to the track.
