    Question Anyone run Firestone Firehawks??

Im still picking out some tires for the SRT, and I am determined to get the added gearing it needs by using slightly shorter tires. I have found a couple sets that really fit the bill. With the 1" lower ride height of the SRT, and this being 1" shorter on top, I dont think it will be a HUGE fender gap. Should be like an R/T, but with BIG AZZ tires!

Firestone Firehawk Wide Ovals (WR) 320 AA A
    245/40/20 ($185) and 275/35/20 ($201).
The results on the Tire Rack site REALLY look good and for a very inexpensive tire. They won in a comparison of 4 tires on the site for those who would like to see the results. They came in 1st in wet handling and tied for 1st in dry!Im looking HARD at a set of these. They sound like a GREAT bang for the buck.

    BFG G-Force KDW (YR) 300 AA A
    245/40/20 ($225) and 275/35/20 ($245).
I really like BFG tires, and we have the KDWS on the SRT-4 and they seem like a great tire, but I want some feedback. The results on Tire Rack show they are a noisy tire and didnt preform quite as well as the Firehawks in the wet and almost tied them in the dry. Good tires it seems, but are more expensive and dont quite match the 'Hawks overall.Any experienced opinions are welcome. Thanks guys!

The ratings look good, but every freaking Firestone tire I have ever owned was a dangerous piece of $hit! My last Toyota Tacoma 4x4 came with Firestones and all 4 failed before 20,000 miles, not wore out, blew up! My only other set, put on a Mazda and drove to Florida. All 4 blew to f -up before I got home. I would walk before I would buy a Firestone.

So I take it we can put you in the "NO" column?

I wouldnt think these tires would be in the same catagory as the tires on a Toyota 4x4, but they might.
Yes, he should go in the "no" column.

I have the KDW2's in 255-55/18 all around and they are some serious tires. But then I was comparing them to the stock Conti's which scared me bad at 17K miles - 2 tons of out-of-control hydroplaning Magnum RT wasn't a fun time.

The KDW2's rock in the wet (so far) and make on-ramps ever so much more fun than before, they stick very well.

They do seem to make more noise at times, but it's not much and not objectionable. I'd buy them again.

I know I'm probably sounding like a **** regarding Firestone tires, but having 16 Firestones out of 16 fail dangerously, wouldn't feel good if you had a blowout and got hurt or killed. I just dont trust them. Damned good thing they don't make condoms!

I agree that Firestone has not done well to make a better name for themselves. But I have had 2 full sets of the Firestone Firehawks SZ50 RunFlats for the C5 Vette. I thought they were good tires and never had any problems with them. Keep in mind that those C5 replacement tires were basically the top of the line for Firestone so I think they are a bit better than the average tire.

Had firehawks on my Intrepid, couldn't wait to get them off, drilled holes in the side walls when I put on my Sumitomos so no one would get killed running my old tires. Dangerous junk tread pattern. Yes that is a NO.

I just put the wide ovals 245/40R20's on a couple of weekends ago and I love them. I might be buying a set for my Dakota when I get new wheels for as well. So far the only thing I don't like about them is that they are a bit noisy as compared to the stock conti's. They are alot shorter in sidewall height though... So far a "YES"
