+35 offset for my AWD, is this right?

I am looking at some 22" Zinik Ferrara's for my AWD C, and Ive seen pictures of +40, but the wheels Im looking at the highest they come is +35. Will these fit alright? I know the +40 sits perfectly, and I was just worried about the +35 sticking out too much. Will they fit right, does anyone have any pictures of an AWD with the +35 offset?

It all depends on the width of the wheel. +35mm is the correct stock offset for our 7.5" rims and 225 tires. Keeping the offset the same means half of any additional wheel/tire width is going to stick out that much further. With 8.5" rims, +40 up to +45mm can usually be used to keep them tucked in as far as possible.

On the AWD, the offset is +55. So the rim is going to stick out about 3/8 inch more, plus half the increased width of the new rim.

I beleive MMM is running +42mm on his bagged AWD with 20's. Don't quote me, I just seem to remember that #. I am sure he will chime in here.

The offset goes down for plus size rims though right? Cause stock is +55, your 20's are +45, so would +35 be ok for 22's or would it stick out? Bigwheels.net suggests 34-42 for 22's. I just want to make sure these wont stick out at all.

I'm not sure I'm understanding what you're saying. But, the size of the wheel makes no difference as far as offset is concerned. What will affect how much your tires stick out is the offset of the wheel, the width of the wheel, and the width of the tire.

Like 'done' stated, the stock offset is +55. So, if you go +35, you will be pushing your wheel out 20 mm. If you go with 8.5" wide wheels, you will be pushing the wheel out another 1/2" (half of the increase from 7.5 to 8.5). Finally, if you go with a wider tire, half the increase is going out, and half in going in.

I've got 255/45-20's on my AWD Magnum with 8.5" wide wheels and a +42 offset. Visually, the outside of my tires are almost even with the outside of the fender wells in front and a little further in on the backs. If I were to have a +35 offset, my tires would be out an additional 7 mm (about 1/4"). It would work, but if your goal is to keep the tire completely inside the fender, you'd be pushing it.

The only reason I say that is b/c I look on wheel sites and the 20's ALL have a higher offset than the 22's. Ive seen pics and heard from a guy who has 22's with a 40 offset and they dont stick out at all. So thats where Im coming from. And your 20's are 45 offset, but stock 18s are 55, see where Im going with this? Thats why I was wondering if the 35 offset would be right for some 22's.

There is no relationship between wheel diameter and offset measurements. The post above your last explains it pretty clearly...

Yes, I see what you're saying, but it's not a correct assumption. It makes absolutely no difference what the diameter of the wheel is. An 18" wheel with a +40 mm offset is the same as a 22" wheel with a +40 mm offset as far as where the outside of the tire will be at (based on both tires being the same width).

I chose the +42 mm offset for my car because I went with 8.5" wheels and wider tires. I wanted to keep the inside edge of the tire at the same location it is with the stock setup to avoid any clearance issues. Therefore, I had to use the offset to move the wheels out 1/2 the additional width I was getting.

I'm guessing that your friends 22's with the +40 mm offset has his tires pretty much flush with the outside of the fender well? If you were to use the same setup but with a +35 mm offset, the tires would come out about .2" further.

I believe mine are a 32 on the offset and are flush with the lip of the fender. If you plan on air bags you'll want to tuck them in more then this.
    I hope this helps.

those are 32 offset? Do they stick out past the wheel well at all?

Ok so a wheel that is 22x9.5 and offset of +35, will this stick out of the fender? Or should I stay with a 22x9.5 with a +40 offset? I dont know how to do the math to calculate this. Thanks!

Okay, so now you're talking 9.5" wide wheels. That's going to move the wheel out an additional 1/2" over an 8.5" wheel. I would be very concerned about a +35 mm offset with that wheel width (if you're trying to keep the tire inside the wheel well). If a +32 mm offset with a 8.5" wide wheel puts the tire even with the fender well, then a 9.5" wheel is going to stick out 1/2" further.

If it helps, to convert from mm to inches, divide the mm number by 25.4 to get inches (10 mm / 25.4 = .394")
