About LinkBacksHey everyone, I got a set of GY ResponsEdge last week, posted in another thread, after a week of driving so far I like them, had a some rain and tires held great. However I do have a problem, The tires are rubbing in the front inside top of the tire both sides. I'm not sure what the part is called in the new cars but on older cars it was called I think the control arm. Has anyone else had this problem with the 255/55/18, I have picture but I am not able to get them uploaded to the site. I will try another method later.
Just was wondering what to do, I do have a 30 day trial for these tire and can go back to GY for a smaller size if I need to, What do you guys think.

I have the BFG's and they clear the control arm by only an eigth of an inch. I'm guessing that your only kissing them, so here's what I would do. Remove the wheels and put the car on jackstands, take a mini grinder and remove a tiny bit of metal from the control arms, try to make it look like the original profile.Do not heat the control arms, just a little bit at a time. If its more than 1/16" you might be able to shim out the front wheels. It can't be much or you would have damaged your tires already.

My 255/55-18 BFG KDW2's missed that little bugger by -maybe- 1/16. IF it was more, it wasn't much, thats for sure. If you buzz off a thread or two you should be good to go - just make sure there is enough left to get the bolt threaded on easily.

My 255/55/18 BFG KDW's actually touch that bar during hard turns. 30K miles, and it hasn't hurt the tires. But they barely rub.

I only hear the rub in reverse, just a light rub mark on the tire, I'm thinking I will be ok, I just wanted to see if anyone else was this close, I to have only about 1/16th when in park wheels turned, Thanks guys.

Ive had the kdw 255-55r18's and havnt heard a rub yet. In reverse, or in hard corners...
That bolt moves with the suspension, so on hard corners there shouldnt be any rubbing. Maybe with the increased air pressure or something it bows out a little.
Ive heard of people shaving the bolt off a little, but in my case, i havnt had a problem yet.
