    245/50R18 GS-D3 Goodyear Tires

    I have done as much research as possible, but find that no-one has tried this tire on our cars. This size is for a 7 series BMW. I had them on a LS1 Camaro and they were spectacular, even in the 245/50R16 size. It is available in the common 255/55R18 as well, but I would rather use the 245 as it suits the 7.5" stock wheel better and gives a lower gear ratio. The car would sit 1/2" lower than stock. 27.7" OD vs 28.6 stock vs 28.9 (255). I miss the performance of a pure summer compound. Would this tire be too much grip for a RT?
    SRT8 Suspension & drivers seat, BT catch can, R & T intake and exhaust, and a sleeping Predator.

    I have the GS-D3s in the 255/55 size on my stockers. I absolutely love these tires. While I was excited to be switching over to MSRT 20" rims, I am saddened by the fact that I can no longer use a GS-D3 tire because they don't make them in a proper dimensioned 20" tire.

    These tires cornered very well, and the testament to that is that I reached MY limit beofre I ever reached the tire's limit. No joke. So, is this tire too grippy for an R/T? Oh, hell no! Not if you drive like me.

    Maybe that's why I have gone through 2 sets of my bushings for the Hotchkis sways!

    You guessed it...TB107 of only 250 in Canada!

    I got a set of 225/45/18 and a set of 245/45/18's (Staggered) and there for Sale. But not GS-D3s ..Just Stones RE040's
    These are Ultra High Perf SUMMER Tires..DO NOT use in Snow/Slush or below Freezing Temps...

    smurray, i just got the 235/55/18 general UHP, and to my surprise the 235 looks very wide out back for its size, ill get ya pics, but man they stick like glue, when i warm them up they chirp second every time, they have hard sidewalls so they handle much better. the tread pattern is very aggressive as well. ontop of that there cheap as hell, and have a longer lifespan than the stock goodyears. i too was looking for a 245/50 if you search my name, found some pics and the cars just didnt look right with that small of a sideall. i thought they would match even since the wheel is so skinny but it wasnt the case.

    255/55/18's work just fine on our stock wheels, just keep plenty of air in them, 35 psi or more. Speedo error can be fixed with Predator. You won't have too much traction on a modded RT at the drag strip. I run the sticky Generals, but when racing , had to switch to drag radials to hook up.

    Thanks for the reply's. I like the Dunlop signatures I have now, but miss having the traction of the pure summer tire. The GS-D3's are very hard on a car because of their traction, I used to solo and hit a road track once with the Camaro, and the best part of the experience was the grip of the tires. But like you said, the bushings (and the shocks/clutch etc) start to wear out fast. I have heard the Generals UHP are pretty good, probably the best without spending a lot of money. I think I am leaning towards the 235/55 or 245/55 as best for the magnum, and 255/55 looks like best bang for the buck.

    255/55 looks so ugly though, tire is wayyyy to big

    That is true, but if you go with GS-D3s then that buck just got more expensive! When I purchased mine 2 years ago, the loonie was tanked and I paid $400 per tire...but I wanted the best, and I got it.

    I went looking for tires the other day for my MSRT rims, and the place suggested Toyo Proxes 4 or Yokohama Parada Spec-X. Said I wouldn't be disappointed with either. I told him that it was too bad that the tire I was running on my 18s were not made in the right size for the 20s...so he asked what I was riding on. I told him. He said that those GS-D3s are in a league of their own. He then asked me how I drive my car. I told him like my woman...hard. He then told me that the 2 he recommended are very good tires but that they were no GS-D3s. Looks like I'll have to learn those tires...and see if I can reach THEIR limit before I reach mine.

    Yes, the Goodyears are expensive, but they hook and turn so nice! The 18" are the same price as the 16" were 3 years ago, still a lot but could be worse. I did reach the limit of the GS-D3's many times, but it was usually during solo or on a race track. You can't tear around the public roads these days like that, our licences would be gone very quickly. I really don't care what the tires look like, as long as they have the proper clearance. Maybe with the Camaro coming out on 245/55R18 as a base tire there might be some new choices soon?
