    **Rotor Questions...... Chime In**

I was looking into getting new rotors. This will be my 3rd set on the car & I have 44k miles on it. So far I’m not to fond of the Mopar OEM Brembo slotted rotors. They seen to warp pretty easy....OR is it the pads. The original setup or Mopar brakes (slotted rotors & Mopar pads) worked real good as we all know, just brake dust problems. My second set was Mopar rotors and EBC Red Stuff pads. Both setups KILLED the rotors, EBC more than Mopar. I was looking to go with a different brand of rotors and DEF a different brand of pads. I found Brakeperformance.com, they have some good looking quality rotors with a great warranty for a good price. Granted you can get Mopar slotted rotors for $60-70 each, these are a little more. But I had that in mind all along. Spend a little more money now to get a better quality and some money in the long run.

My question is: I've done all my research on the rotors & brakeperformance.com has slotted, slotted drilled & slotted dimpled rotors. WHICH ONES SHOULD I GET? They have a lifetime warranty against manufacture defects and being built wrong, & they have a 2 year warranty against warping. Considering I have warped 2 sets of rotors already in 2 1/2 years this warranty would be great.

Does anyone have rotors from them, which ones and ho is their product? I have read that forum members that had drilled rotors cracked them, but after how long and where they of good quality? Are Dimpled/Slotted rotors better then drilled/slotted? I was going to go with just the slotted ones but know I’m wondering if I should go after the dimpled/slotted or drilled slotted with the warranty they offer. Because I imagine I will be warranting these rotors after a year & a 1/2 anyways.

You guys ever heard of Satisfied Pro Series Ceramic Brake Pads, Satisfied Pro Series Performance Brake Pads, NUCHIN, or AXXIS Brake pads?? I’m thinking about going with one of them. OEM’s are TOO EXPENSIVE & EBC Red’s sucked. I don’t mind brake dust, as much as I mind them eating up the rotors and stopping power.

Any input or opinions would be great. Thanks

wow, more brake stuff. Lots of stuff here if you search.

Buy the Bendix pads, less than 100 bucks for all 4 wheels. Near stock duplicates.

You can't beat the stock Mopar slotteds for about 80 bucks each at www.moparsupercenter.com.

Then please read these two tech papers.

    http://www.zeckhausen.com/bedding_in_brakes.htm

    http://www.stoptech.com/tech_info/wp...rakedisk.shtml

You will need to make a slight adjustment in your technique and you will never experience the problem again.

Agreed, a lot of questions on brake rotors and pads.

To answer the specific question on Brake Performance, I've got their rotors on my SRT8. The link below shows the front rotor after 6K miles. They've worked well for me with Posi-Quiet semi-metallic pads. They've stood by their warranty. While they offer free pads, I don't use them since they haven't been forthcoming with the brand, although I know their semi-metallic.

    http://www.lxforums.com/board/album....pictureid=3583

Due to conjestion and traffic where I live, I can't always bed my brakes on a regular basis, so I rotate between to sets of front rotors. When one set comes off, it gets turned and cut for the next rotation. Most LX owners can bed their brakes more often, so there's less issue with pad material welding to the rotor.

My only advise is get mid-line to premium rotors because they're steel is better (from a process called annealing). Do proper break-in and bedding on a routine basis and you'll be fine.

Keep in mind that when pads make dust they're actually producing more friction for stopping. Less dust means less friction. Therefore, Bendix pads or other semi-metallics are good for daily drivers, where ceramics are typically used for a lot of highway driving and racing. So, buy products that fit how and where you drive.

1st set was the TSB from Chrysler for the slotted Rotors & brake pads. The next set of pads & rotors will be my 2nd set put on by me in 44k miles. 1 set was the EBC red & Mopar slotted rotors, now I have to figure out what the next setup will be. I wouldnt sat I drive it hard and have bad driving habbits. I dont weave in and out of traffic, I dont tailgate & I dont ride my brakes. I did get the car up to super fast speeds on the highway & took 50+ trips down the dragstrip to 112mph then had to slow down, but thats about it. On a scale from 1-10, 1 being easy & 10 being hard I would say I would be between 6 & 7 on how hard I am on my brakes. These cars are so fun it would be a shane to drive it like Miss Daisy.... I have to push it sometimes, dont you agree....??

I got the slotted dimpled rotors from http://www.brakeperformance.com/site/ . LIFETIME warranty against materials and workmanship defects including cracking and warping... AND free shipping?

Got them 3/22/07....over 2 years and working great.

For the SoCal guys, they are located in Winnetka, so UPS Ground gets there next day.

Do the RED brotha! I'd stay away from ceramic pads, IMO. I used ceramic on my OEM rotors which warped the heck outta them. Then I got cryogenically treated drilled rotors, ceramic's warped the heck outta those too! Ceramic pads run very very hot which will warp the best rotors. I've had the RED pads on as long as the rotors, over 2 years and still have about 45-50% left. I also have the RED on my Denali's OEM rotors almost a year now, no issues.

    Good Luck!!

    haw!

Kinda funny how nobody reads the tech papers posted.

My car gets driven lots harder than the OP's and I have no brake issues. Plus the 'warp' myth one saved me thousands on my fleet trucks last year alone.

Now I know why Dudewin gets so PO'd!

Ya'll have fun blowing your hard earned money on brake parts!

Help me out then...where are the tech papers...

Steve, why so harsh man. My opinion was asked and I gave it without thinking bad of my fellow LX'er. Some of us may not be as "Tech" as you are and that's why we come together to learn and share. Just point us in the right direction. If I took your message wrong, let me know and I'll say "I'm Sorry"!!

Steve, I read the tech papers and I have been bedding in my brakes since 04 when I first got my 95 Impala SS, so I'm not new to any of this, but after trying all the tricks I still have constant shuddering at high speed braking. I didn't get the car new so I don't know what the previous drivers driving habits were, so I'm gonna start fresh with a new rotors and pads and break them in MY way. Thanks anyway tho, have a coke a smile...
