    Question Undercoating...

Who has undercoated thier LX, and who do you suggest? It needs to be done, but I don't like the idea of holes being drilled into the doors and channels to have the stuff sprayed into it. Thanks.

I had mine done at the dealer before I took delivery. Besides that, you could go with Krown. Yeah they drill, but they're proven and I've heard a lot of good things about them.

I would discourage you from rustproofing. Chrysler vehicles seem to resist rust very well. I squirted used motor oil in all the doors of my Dodges. Keep an eye on the underbody every time it goes on a lift, If you see any rust starting, paint on some POR-15. My experience with rust proofing, after a few years, it starts to hold water underneath or in Maine salt and calcium chloride, then you have a mess. I've seen some 300,000 mile Intrepids still rust free here with no rustproofing. I've also seen Subarus, Toyotas, Hondas and other imports self destruct in 3 years.

Rust Check (similar to Krown) is excellent. It doesn't trap water or dirt like the older-style tar undercoating.

I had my car Krowned a month after purchase without hesitation and once a year after that.
Krown is definitely a superior product

Krown is the only way to go, we did a comparison between Krown and Rust Check on our salt trucks and in our opinion the Krown did better. Sticky coatings and films WILL eventually allow water to seep behind them. The oil sprays are far better. Don't worry about the holes, just confirm that they treat the holes before installing the seal plugs. Just had my Magnum done last week, no hesitaton. $112 taxes in. I would avoid using used motor oil, one of the reasons we change the oil is to remove all the acids and moisture that accumulate in the oil, doesn't seem wise to then coat body panels with it. Also it tends to be dirty and a little smelly!! The other draw back is that motor oil will cause your rubber door seals and body mounts to swell up and deteriorate. I know ..... the previous owner had my van sprayed with that stuff, what a mess.

I'm still debating whether or not to get mine done this spring. Did Krown remove your tail light lenses to spray behind them? The spots they can't/don't get to always rot out eventually anyway in my experience. I had my previous vehicle for 19 years and, while the body was virtually rust-free, the floor and a few other places were a disaster.
