So the family and I are throwing around the idea of moving from Southern California to Montreal due to job offers. I attempted to look up cost of living comparisons to get a feel, but all of the sites I checked were able to run city-to-city comparisons within the same country, but not comparing cities from two separate countries.
-What's the weather like?
-Roads for lowered cars?
-Taxes?
-Rent for a house within the $2000-2500 range?
This was just a curveball thrown at me, so any advice or pointers would be greatly appreciated!
TIA,
Rick

I grew up in L.A Maywood CA all my life till I was 15 moved to Nebraska for 4 years and let me say THEIR IS NO PLACE LIKE SO CAL plain n simple yeah taxes were low rent was cheap but its too cold in winters and too hot in summers so da bills add up ALOT also roads are bad do to snow salt can't rock your rims all year long so u might need stocks heck u might need a winter car Good Luck hopefully it all works out
Montreal is an awesome city man! Winters are snowy and cold, but summers are humid and hot! Lowered cars in mtl...should be fine when you learn the roads theres quite a few lowered cars around mtl...most people with lowered in eastern canada put em away for storage in the winter months...ive seen some on the road in the winter...but dont forget about the salt!! If you love your car it will be stored in the winter...Its a very Euro inspired city, lots of hipsters around the downtown area, but lots of quebec muscle car guys in the city limits. Your close to Mt.Tremblant they have a track there as well! As another person said your not far from NYC, Boston, Ottawa, Toronto, Quebec City, Burlington VT, lots of places to do weekend trips with the family. The country side around montreal is awesome filled with Lake's and cottage country. Property in quebec is cheap (not in downtown mtl though) but compared to Ontario its cheaper, auto insurance is cheaper in quebec. The biggest strip club in north america is in MTL (club super sex) lol. Amazing greenery 420 in mtl lol. Its a city full of quebec/French culture, amazing party scene, the gurls...well nothing beats the quebec gurls lol. Theres a passion in quebec for modifiying cars like the chezy cavalier with under glow, chrome tint, and the biggest muffler you can buy at parts source, youll learn to laugh at those guys hahah I say DO IT! So Cal is sick but MTL is just plain cool. I go often as its 1.5hrs from Ottawa, and feels like your shopping in europe when your walking around.
more advice....read up on this lol

So it sounds like a winter beater would be in store.... I have my 350z and this 300 that has transformed a lot, so I just don't know what to do if I have to get a daily beater. I appreciate the input as it helps me draw a better picture of what to expect. In regards to the French, I don't speak a lick of it. I've heard that it is a common spoken language in the MTL area. Do you feel different or do people treat you differently if you do not know French?
as long as the 350z isnt lowered it would be a fun a winter car haha, might need something with more then two seats though...maybe a 2005 magnum is in your near future?
wow that looks dope! lol deff not a family winter beater hahah more like the mont tremblant weekend track car! deff need an older STOCK lx winter beater
uhmmmm yeah....you ain't driving that on the Montreal roads I have been on....lmao
This is where you should be looking at your housing options.
Maison à louer Montréal - Logement à louer - Petites Annonces Montréal
And i agree that z is slammmmmmed gonna need to know the roads forsure. If you do the move hit me up for insurance quotes (will need an apraisal for your beasts though...) , i can sell in ontario and quebec.

Paul
