    So Cal tile person

anyone know, or are good with tile & grout? We've got a couple grout lines in the shower that have small cracks in them, and want to get them fixed before it becomes a problem. Also could use advice on the best way to clean dark tiles & grout. In the same tile we also have a couple cracked grout lines and one slightly loose tile on the main bathroom floor as well. Small job for certain, but could use help or advice.

    Thanks

It rubs the lotion on it's skin, or else it gets the hose again!

Yeah, George is right, this is a DIY job. The Grout cleaner/Grout is at HD or Lowes like he said. Scrub her down and rinse her out. Then mix some grout "easy" just add water. Then you apply the grout, wait a few and sponge it off. The excess goes and the rest stays in the joint. Go for it. Done and handled for 50 bucks.

do I need to remove the old grout first? the crack is just a hairline? and does it need to be stripped of the grout sealer? (I at least did the sealing before )

but thanks, I'll give it a go. this natural-type ceramic tile is a bigger pain than standard smooth porcelan

Okay, here is what you need to do. First go find the color grout you need. Then take a chissle and remove all old grout that needs repairing. For the loose tile you will need the paste to re stick. Then after repairing the loose tile regrout the entire area together. Only remove the grout that needs replacing. When regrouting the area it will attach itself to the rest and make a nice seal. I hope this helps.

you'll most likely need non-sanded grout as well. not sanded unless your grout lines are over 1/8" thick. when you mix the grout, think applesauce consistency.

don't use anything premixed, no matter what the home depot/lowe's guys tell you. premixed is for DRY areas only.

they have grout removal tools at HD and lowes, 1st one for a small job is a hand held tool with a diamond grit type file on it, 2nd one goes on a dremil tool, you can also get a tile removal tool mthese are much safer than a chisel and work really good. You'l also need a tube of some tile mastic "waterproof" since its in the shower and grout sealer

wide grout lines (think 3/8") current grout is onyx sanded. The tile that is loose is out near the bedroom, and I've got grout sealer somewhere around here.

So no premixed? drat, was hoping for something in a small tube since I only need to redo about 20 inches , and premix is all I've tried before. isn't there also an additive that makes it more flexible?
