Short visit to LA & San Diego. Need some advice

I am bringing SwimMonster out to check out some schools. We arrive late on Wednesday, March 11th into LA.

Wednesday nite ~ 11pm arrive in LA
Friday AM head towards San Diego
Flight leaves Saturday after lunch from San Diego

This trip is a fast one and is really all about the schools, but we gotta squeeze in a couple of hours of other stuff.

I'm sure we will drive a few of the famous streets but other than that, what would you suggest?

    • Drive by the LA Memorial Colisium (She has trained at the Olympic center in Colo so I figure it might be a fleeting interest)
    • Petterson Museum? Can't decide about that by the way it looks online.
    • Are there any of the famous shops that are especially friendly to visitors?
    • Grauman’s Chinese Theatre
    • Anybody have a way to get 2 tickets to the Leno taping on that Thursday afternoon, March 12th? Ok, maybe some other show?
Any ideas or help is appreciated!
    Thx, Les K

You can hit up Peterson's in the morning, then shot over to the Farmer's Market for lunch and walk over to the Grove for a bit.... then drive like 5 mins away and you can be on Hollywood Blvd to see the Chinese Theatre, the Kodak Theatre, Jimmy Kimmel Live is across the street, El Capitan Theatre... then cruise south on La Brea (past Pink's Hot Dog) and Melrose Blvd. and head west (right) and see some great shops and PEOPLE...

The Grove in Los Angeles is a very nice place and it is right next door to the world famous Farmer's Market.

Plus this is not far from the Peterson's Museum:

    Those are some thoughts...

Since you'll be in SD You can check this out. Breakfast @ Balboa I realize this meet is on Sunday but it is at an Auto museum and that may be fun. Any updates on the young man that you had us pray for?

Thanks for that lead. I've been to that museum. Had a Tucker right inside the door when I was there.

YES! Austin is doing great! He is released from most restrictions and can pick up the golf clubs and start to swing the baseball bat again. Swimming is still a restriction due to the effort requried but he may get back to that. He is studying trying to get caught up on school work.
    Thanks for the prayers!

Thanks for the leads. We are already back home! Whew!

Had a great visit to 5 schools (Pepperdine, Loyola MU, UCSD, USD & SDSU. Unfortunately, Pepperdine is off the list due to their swim program closing. We saw some sweet LX'es including whoever the silver Magnum was with the plates "1K TO GO" as we left Pepperdine. I was cruising a not too special blue PT Cruiser.

Don't be surprised if SwimMonster comes to Loyola or SDSU in the fall of 2011.

Didn't have a lot of time to play but we were about 15 folks short of getting into the Tonight Show w/ Jay Leno. We tried it on the spur of a moment when our schedule worked out.

    Thanks again.
