Talking If you have an SRT-8

Mopar no longer uses Mobil 1 0w40 as the oil for the SRT-8. They were having problems getting the stuff as you know while Chrysler was in its state of problems. We (they) are now using Penzoil 5w40 European as the replacement. If you are a true diehard of the Mobil1 you can now find it back on the shelves of your favorite parts outlet as they were also having problems getting it. Just an FYI Have a nice day..........

Is 5W40 easier to find than 0W40? I'm getting my oil changed this weekend at the dealership since I have the service package. Better be good oil since this wasn't in the contract lol.

Just changed the oil yesterday with Mobil 1. Advance Auto Parts sells the oil and the Mopar filters.

Man, you had better ask. If synthetic isnt specced, assume the worst.

And not all Mobil 1 0w40 is fully synthetic. Read the bottle... I've got both.

I run Amsoil 5w40 European Spec., which contians the necessary ZDDP's that Mobil1 dropped back in May 2008. Mobil1 went from an API SL rating to an SM, with fewer additives than previous formulations.

ZDDP's are the wear reducing additives that keep your engine running smoothly.

I'm not a "Liquid Ballbearing's" fan (read: Penzoil = Paraffin wax), but I'm quickly becoming a fan of Amsoil and their filters...

    Just my .02.

Here's a Mobil1 chart listing its oils and their ZDDP content in ppm.

    Hope this helps the discussion
