    Where to Stay???

Fly into Oakland or SFO and enjoy the drive down to Monterey. The place to stay is:

    Embassy Suites Monterey Bay/Seaside
    1441 Canyon del Rey Blvd
    Seaside, CA 93955
    (831) 393-1115

We stayed there last year for the SRTTE and there was a huge turnout of LX's. Nice hotel, reasonably priced and close to the beach & the freeway.

    Enjoy the SRTTE

I would say SFO is better than Oakland, but the San Jose airport is a little closer and still has the major airlines. There's an airport in Monterey but it's tiny.

I arranged for 16 rooms at the Navy Lodge but I don't know if there are any left. Here's the info:
    Lodging:
    Hotel: http://www.navy-lodge.com/united_sta.../monterey.html
We have 16 rooms, eight rooms have 2 beds, and eight rooms have 1 bed. All beds are queen size. The overall group reservation is from 30NOV to 3DEC. Each party must call to reserve their room and provide a credit card before October 31st. Reservations can be made with the front desk at 831-372-6133. The rate is $68 per night.

As far as a meet & greet, yeah, I'm sure we'll be getting together. I live within 2 miles of both hotels mentioned above. If anyone wants to know cool things to do or places to eat just ask.

    Cool

The uphill backstretch leading to the corkscrew is probably long enough to land on if you have enough of a headwind.

    two items...
#1 - if you are flying in on your own plane - land at Monterrey, CA. - they have a decent facility.
#2 - see our thread on the SRTTE weekend here:

Remember traffic...... SFO and Oakland mean you're driving down 101 or 880. If you're landing between 7AM and 7PM, that drive will suck.
SJC puts you right on the southern part of 880, nice easy shot over to Monterey via 17 and 1 (pretty) or 101 (faster).
