Good News: You will NOT get money owed to you for CA State Taxes

Yep, you're too far down the totem pole to have any clout on getting money that is yours.

We all saw this coming and Arnold did try to do something about it, but everytime he tried, the union lobbist and voters put a block to it because it will mean a pay cut of a sort. there's no easy way out of this now. We really need to do away with some social services, entitlements and enact some minor cut in pay of state employees. Before you guys start flaming me, my wife works for the state.

Maybe for us who are due refunds we can assess a late fee and/or penalties, kind of lke when the shoe is on the other foot???

I also think that our exhornbanate members of the state legislature should not get paid unitl they resolve this fiscal mess.. you cannot be the provider to everyone who needs assistance when they show up on your door step..

Problem is he wants a 10% paycut, and two unpaid furlough days a month, one or the other would be rough in this present economy, but if he does both, thats a 20% pay cut, thats going to really harm some state employees

The sad thing is even public companies are already doing that and much worse in today's economy. What once was a "job for a lifetime" working for the government is no longer unless you're at the top of the totem pole.

I'd gladly take the 10% cut and only two unpaid days a month compared to what some of us at a public company are going through.

Why is that rough in this economy? Everything is cheaper. Cars can be had for less, real estate prices are down, loan rates are down, gas prices are down...

I don't mean to pick on you, but America has been on an economic climb for so long that no one realizes or remembers that a pay cut is OK during an economic downturn.

The other issue is government inefficiency. Until about 4 months ago, I worked for the government. When I started, I came from private industry and was SHOCKED at the inefficiency and bureaucracy. Some HR reform/efficiency studies would probably save more than the pay cut that he asked for.

Bottom line is, all Californians gotta tighten their belts until our economy recovers. State employees will have to take a reductions in wages or benefits and the rest of us will have to do with less, like state provided services / entitlements.
