    ESP completely off

Ok so I have hear that you can install a switch that can turn the ESP all the way off without killing the traction control or ABS. I guess there is a gyrometer under the center console that controls the computers yaw reading for the esp system. If you put a switch on the power wire for that gyrometer you can kill esp while keeping abs and other systems working. The basis is that the computer thinks the sensor is bad and turns the system off. Theoretically then you can flip the switch whenever you want to kill esp.
Has anyone done this? Does it work? And how difficult is this to do myself?
    Thanks

I thought the srt could kill it anyway (press and hold the button down). But yes there is a write up by rtjunkie on doing this with a switch.

I have done it and yes it works and works great! It is very easy to install and shouldn't take more than 30 minutes to do.

I did the RTJUNKIE ESP switch mod, there is a write up here with pictures somewhere, search for it.

Downside is that you just can't flip the switch back on to restore ESP, you must shut off engine, then flip the switch back on.

Other then that, it works fine.

i think I'm the one who told your friend Kevin about this on the dakota r/t forums. get some 18 guage wire from radio shack, a switch, and some butt connectors. then just tap the purple wire with the light blue stripe on it under your center console. (not the purple with dark blue stripe.)

the srt dash still cuts power to the motor when you get sideways even in full off position. if you cut power to the gyro-meter it wont do that.

if you use the predator it puts the car in limp mode if you make a u-turn or turn the wheels too far because predator disable is actually "emissions dyno roller mode" and it freaks out and thinks your crashing on the dyno if you turn the wheels too far. don't drive around on the street with esp disabled with the predator or you will into limp mode on sharp turns.

With the switch on the gyro, can you switch it off and leave it off? So that it will disable on each startup!

Also, can a momentary switch be installed, So all you have to do is push the button, kill power for a second to disable the esp. Then you don't have to remember to turn the switch back on the next time you start it!?

No need for a momentary switch, just flip the switch to off (car running) and then back to on, the ESP will stay off until you restart car.

that button on the dash does not turn off the esp completely. Moreso on the SRT models but never 100%
