'06 March Meet: Ideas & Suggestions

Our goal is to keep getting bigger and better!
Please post your ideas and suggestions for our "Spring Fling" here... Location... Activities... etc.

We ultimately have to work within the confines and constraints of the committee, so please don't be upset if your suggestions can't be implemented, but we want to hear what you have to say and will do our best to take those suggestions into consideration during the planning process... if not next time, then for the future.

If you see an idea posted that you feel you can make happen, please PM me and let me know what you have in mind.

    Thank you!!
    =====================================

Here are a few of my ideas to start off:

    1) picnic in the park... bring your own basket and the family
    2) music
    3) ballots to vote for our favorite cars in different categories
    4) awards

Just to add on to what Hemee has said maybe we could

include one of those inflatable jumping bins for the kids, party stores rent them
3 legged races for the kids and us
volleyball or horeshoes (well away from the cars of course!

I'm sure I'll have more idears but that's what comes to mind first, I really like the 'family' sense of it all.

Howzabout something a little more north. 8 hours in a car is a LONG time! Even if it is a magnum.
    I like to pass!!

How about a meet at the Nethercutt Museum in Sylmar? They have Great cars (some of the best in the world), a big lot to park and the cost is free. There is a number of places to eat within 5 min. I have done this met a few times with the Rolls-Royce Club and the Aston Martin Club and they had a great time!

Vegas Baby. Imagine a westcoast get together with 300+ cars. The caravans 15 and 20 cars rolling deep out there in every direction. Or how about pulling into a velet at one of the hotels 15 deep, oh my god. The best part "is what happens in Vegas Stays in Vegas".

The Nethercutt would be excellent. I have not been there since the new building was built across the street. It is really a unique place and the entire collection (the musical instruments included) is fabulous.

Rolls Royce & Magne300Csium: I just did the Nethercutt for the 3rd time with my street rod club. The musical instrument and hood ornament collections are fascinating, a good day outing and the price is right! They are fairly limited as to the group sizes they can accept so this would be fun, but more of a mini-meet. Think BIG... my thread is more geared to sharing thoughts about the next BIG mixed forums SoCal meet in March.

magnumdude, I hear ya on the travel issue... it's something we'll try to take into consideration.

MAGNUM8R, we'll be building a list of volunteers, thanks for the offer!

I would definatley be up for a little " Road Trip " it would be so cool heading down the hwy with 20 or 30 of your best friends in tow. 8-)

Vegas even Reno would be cool, maybe we could get a few more of our northern friends an opportunity to join us, right Buttweet ;-) .

But you guys keep dropping ideas and we'll try to make sure you all have a GREAT time.

Understood. If it is designed as a So CA meet, then, it follows, that is should be located in SLO, or south. Possible locations include San Luis Obispo, the Solvang/Buellton area, as well as Santa Barbara.

If we were to wait until Mid-April, it could probably be coordinated with CPW's Spring Fling in Woodley Park, which is in Van Nuys.

It seems that most of the meets have been in OC. It's time to get them to move up a ways.

I agree with that!I think we'd overwhelm the Woodley Park event, but I have suggested the SLO area in the past. <edit> The Solvang area is a nice option as well, lotsa shopping for the ladies that don't care to hang around the cars all day... There is a beautiful park at Nojoqui Falls where they do rod runs. Both cities are beautiful, plenty of lodging and it would be easier for the NorCal guys to join in. April is tough for me as it's opening of Rod run season and I'll be debuting my Nomad... sure wouldn't want to do all this work then miss all the fun!

Keep the ideas and suggestions comin'... the "committee" will begin deliberations in January!

Solvang would be cool, the wife I go there every Thanksgiving weekend, but I don't believe it's big enough to handle the 200 - 300 we're hoping to get together for this next gathering. Plus I'd like to get further north like Reno. I don't think we need to stay in California. I'd like to get some folks out of Oregon & Washington an opportunity to get in on the fun.I only mention Reno because I know they do a large Car Show in August called " Hot August Nights" and are probably capable of handling large meets.

How about a data sheet on each car listing options that are installed. That way members could ask the owner how that option has worked out>>>>
