Woodburn Dragstrip rental interest on Mopar Nationals weekend Jul 18-19!!

I have been thinking about renting a dragstrip for the day and have a little NW LX competition and BBQ. I called Portland International raceway, and they said it is around $6000-$8000. So I said, scratch that.

I called Woodburn and they can do a midweek rental (all weekends are booked) for $1500 for the first 10 cars and $100 for every car there after. That was better. As I talked more and more with them at Woodburn, we came up with a great idea.

They can set up a cordoned off area for our club where we can hang and bring BBQ grilles on Saturday July 18th. They will also designate two staging lanes exclusively for us and we can bracket race for an overall club champ. They said if we could get 15-20 cars they can even provide a trophy or plaque of some sort. It gets better. This would only come at a cost of $40 per car and driver, since the track will not be exclusively ours.

It gets even sweeter. The Mopar nationals are Sunday July 19th. So, we can have our club day on Saturday and the Mopar Nationals that Sunday.

I want to gauge interest and see if the date would work for everybody. I will start an informal guest list here:

I don't know if it matters, but you can do the club thing at PIR as well.

The Saturday before the Woodburn Mopar Nationals is the also the All Mopar Show in Salem.

None of that prolly matters, just throwing it out there.

I am in, of course....BTW our brothers/sisters down in CALI are also doing a similar event in JUNE at infineon raceway......sixteen racers already signed up, convoy anyone...

I made it to the Mopar Nationals two years ago but had to miss last year. That won't happen again.

I cannot comment on the new management, but with the previous group I know that they would hose us for all that they could. It would be fun though to have a central Puget Sound based event to have something like this at.

seems poorly organized, things went way smoother at portland international when i raced there with way more cars. pacific would probably charge out the ass. but ill call em up and find out...
