Taxes back, time for a new exhaust/headers

I have been researching a little online, looking at JBA headers and exhaust right now. Wondering if anyone has them currently or had recommendations for other brands.

I've been toying with this for a while, but haven't taken the plunge so no real world advice yet.
    However:
From what I've read and been told. Shorties are better around town every day driving. LT's are better at the track and do more for the upper RPM band.
Lot's of JBA's out there, everyone seems to love them, but I've read of a number of people having issues with them rubbing the inside of the wheelwell. The adjustment is shoving the engine over. Everyone says its fixable but sounds like it's a tight fit.
LT's seem to be notorious for throwing codes because they move the O2 sensors further down the line. If yu ahve a predator can turn them off, but I never liked that idea and you still aren't emissions compliant.

When I do decide to start spending extra $$ again, I am going for Mopar's. They are equal length mid tubes. Seems they figured out just how far they could push the o2 sensors away and not throw codes (haven't heard of any problems). It just sounded like the best of both worlds to me.

As noted above, everyone will have an opinion here.

    long tubes or nothing. =)

I have mopars on mine and they are great, they give WAY more torque than jba's. I dynod at 390ft/lbs.

yes they move the o2 sensor but I never throw codes unless its below freezing out and even then its not common. and if you have a predator (highly suggest you do) you can just clear them anyway. dont turn off your O2 sensor however even though you can.

Long tubes help with scavenging over short tubes at lower velocities due to pulse equalization, aka, they give you better low end torque, all things being equal. If they are a LARGE tube diameter then they can also be good at higher RPM, but in general short tubes have an improved scavenging due to pulses that come closer together at higher RPM so are better for power up top in general.

Will most people notice the difference? Probably not so long as you have a well built exhaust doing its job correctly (scavenging and giving only the minimum amount of backpressure you need for low end, while not becoming obstructive during top end WOT). Just my $.02 on this.

    hmmm interesting

I've been talking to a builder and he suggested not wasting funds on new headers. Instead I am going to clean up the stockers and throw them back on. I just haven't seen any conclusive evidence that it's money well spent for a couple of HP increase, especially on the LT's. If its sound you want I would get some cut-outs, more noise for your dollar.

Check out Focuz Tech's Headers! They are by far the best looking headers I have seen! VERY thick Flanges.

    These are mine:

Yep, thats why i'm looking at Mopar's too (someday soon). Predator is definitley worth it, but I agree, not wanting to turn of O2s.

Are they on yet? Performance? Sound? O2 issues?

long tubes COME with the high flow mids so thats not really an issue. Also if you have a SRT they already come with short tube headers, they are VERY similar to the JBA's. R/t's however have a pitiful excuse for headers stock.

I have not put them on yet. Im doing Heads,Cam,intake. These ones shouldent have any codes, I dont have cats so I have my rear O2 turned off anyways. I have seen Kooks headers in person, they are nice but the coating on these are twice what Kooks are. Just My .02 cents. On the Flange the welds have been sanded down, and they come with hand cut gaskets that they cut for each header. Also the price is right. Your right at $700. Lot better than others. And Focuz Tech service is the best!!

Just got my exhaust installed today, went with the JBA 5.7l cat back system. Drove all the way home from VTR just to hear the great sounds. Wanted to thank VTR for the great job as usual.
