    Oregon State Troopers

As some of you know I use my charger as a daily driver. I drive the speed limit (most of the time) when commuting to/from work. So today on my commute home, I actually left work early for the first time in a long time. As I was driving 55 a state trooper in a charger pulls along side of me, he smiles, I smile back, he pulls up behind me, lights go on, I go WTF? This kid (had to be his first week on job as he was nervous as all get out and he was too polite) walks up to my window asks for the usual info then says "so is there a reason you don't have a front license plate?" You have got to be kidding me. So I sit there for an eternity as he writes me up, in the meanwhile at least a dozen cars w/no front plates drive by.

Worse part is my cell phone was ringing off the hook as a half dozen people I know insisted on calling me as I sat there and they drove by wondering what I got pulled over for .... lol.....

The priorities in our country are clearly messed up.....now I have to drill two holes in my bumper or pay a fine....unless there's an alternative....

NO wonder we are in the economic mess we are in.....rant...

    Sorry Dave,

The fine used to be $87 after appearing for the reduction, but that was quite awhile back. How I know that should make you feel a little better, it happens.

Can't remember for sure but it seems Slim did something different with his front plate, may want to ask him before you drill.

Are you mandated to have the front license plate on in your state?

I got pulled over in Canby on Saturday for the same thing. I have actually been pulled over 2 times for it now.I always tell them that my car just had the front bumper replaced and the body shop forgot to install it. Has worked everytime so far, as they only give me a warning, and tell me they like my car.(Knocking on wood)

It must have been he needed to prove himself. Sorry you were in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I've had no front plate for 42,000 miles driving though Oregon, Washington, Nevada and California. Knock on friggin wood on that one.
It looks like 2012 will be very good indeed.
Unless the Mayans are right, then, well, never mind.

We're required to have them here in OH, too...

I had my front plate bracket painted to match, and I'm much happier with it!

Yup, they got me the same way, except no ticket, just a warning.

Use a small "L" bracket mounted to the underside of your lower intake. Drill and tap, mount plate, get ticket signed off and remove. No visable holes unless you lay underneath the car.
    I like to pass!!

Sorry you got stopped. I painted my bracket to match as well. It looks ok, but I'd prefer not having one.

Well, he can only stop them one at a time...

Don't forget, it's the state legislators you elected that mandated that front plate, not the Trooper.

I dont have a front plate. If there was a bracket for my front plate...I would stick it on there. But there isn't. And I don't want to F with it until I absolutley have to.
I have never been pulled over for the plate. I did have a cop mention it to me one time...but he was very non-chalant. In fact....I don't think he could have cared less.

    *shrugs*
If I have to get one I might get a hide away. Something I can fold down. I hate the way front plates look on our cars.
But hey...the law is the law.
But until I get popped...the plate stays off
    I was programmed for awesomeness.

I think he was just trying to flex some muscle since he was driving the R/T version. He should have just given you a warning.

Move to Arizona. No front plate needed.

Of course we have speed cameras up the wazoo and red light cameras also. But no front plate.
