That's cool. Did it cost much? Getting kind of lazy now that you're a year older.![]()

Now that I've had it for a few days, I can say I really like it. Remote start and remote hatch release rule.
I'm very impressed with the work at Kingpin Car Audio. They know what they're doing and their shop is very trick. It's rather humbling to have my lowly MSRT8 parked next to a new Lambo they were also working on.
Right at $1100 installed. With battery backed-up siren, tilt sensor, window break sensor (detects atmospheric changes not sound) and an iDatalink interface (instead of the POS Directed one).
Kinda like the one we had during last years St. Helens run?

I've been to Kingpin...great shop, totally involved owner, does nice work.
Congrats on the new mods, Bill! Maybe we should add you to the Economic Recovery Plan as a source of funding...LOL
^^^^The Money Pit^^^^
did you get auto windows? I had Car Toys quote me $1800 for a system..I told them they were out of their cornflaking minds.
Did Kingpin install the remote start properly, sans "key taped under dash"...I need a quality installer to trust.
Awesome Bill!
I have the Python 990 in mine and I love it. Built by the same company but mine doesn't quite have all the features yours does, but it is kinda old now.
I can also pop my hatch with the remote, but with the stock struts it does no good because it is still caught by the secondary latch so I still have to grab a hold and press the button to release it the rest of the way.

Get those struts replaced... the new ones (mopar super center for the part number and a good price if you are out of warranty) ROCK.... Both my hood and rear hatch struts lost effectiveness over the years. A year ago (or more) I replaced the Hatch struts under warranty. To this day they will release the hatch and a slight bump is all it takes for it to start lifting itself. Same thing happened to my hood struts a little while ago...they stopped holding the hood very well. The new ones lift the hood by itself once you release the secondary catch.
Now back to your regularly scheduled alarm talk. I installed an XK unit and an AutoPage 860LCD unit a year and a half ago. The XK is okay, but I want a bypass kit that does CanHigh and CanLow lines so I don't get that stupid DTC any more. After looking around I settled on the iDataLink ADS-AL CA w/ CH3 firmware and a RS1000 Autopage C3 system for full 2way DataLink ability. I'm installing it all myself this weekend or next. All things said and done, I'll be out less than $400 in parts and materials (probably about $350 or so) and I'll know the job was done right with soldered connections and heatshrink. This D2D is looking like SO much easier than the standard Wire-to-Wire method I used last time... we'll see how it goes this weekend or next.
Thanks to this forum (and many of the fine folks here), the iDataLinkForum, and the 12Volt site, I'll have remote controlled: heated seats, rear defrost, hatch pop, and if I feel really really crazy I might decide to hook up the third auxiliary out to either the sunroof, VES system, or the Stereo On/Off... heheh maybe hook it up to the lights so I can blink the lights on the car remotely... just because I can. lol. I've already done the heated seats and rear defrost on my previous install. The hatch pop will be a piece of cake now that I know what resistor to use.
DEI products are good. I've been reading on some installers forums where they have had some problems lately in quality, but if your unit works right after being installed then you are pretty much Golden. The only problems I've had with my previous AutoPage install was the alarm system flipped out when the battery voltage dropped below 12v. I accidentally drained it to 10v by overusing the power seats with the engine off. I'll never do that again! Next time my car got really hot (a couple days later) the alarm system went nutz...sounded really crazy/odd. I had to disconnect/reconnect the alarm power and it was fine after that. My fault! I mainly chose the AutoPage system for price + features... they are comparable to a bunch of other systems feature wise but a TON cheaper.
