And the mod money drains away....

On the way back from PRE last week I caught a rock or bolt with my windshield, looked like a small chip at first but by the time I got home it was a little baby spider and by Tuesday last week it was a softball sized spider, I had to get it fixed.

Made my appointment for this morning but when I got into the shop and the tech pulled the new glass out of the rack we found that the new glass was damaged, I was ticked and the owner could tell so he said he was gonna hook me up if I'd be willing to come back in the afternoon.

Here's what I got for my time....

Kinda like blue blocker sun glasses for your car, pretty cool eh? It's PPG glass called "first edition", you can only see the insignia from the outside. On the inside it didn't get much darker but everything became more clear, even in the rain. Pretty slick.

Anyway, half my mod (nitrous) money just went to the glaziers so I'm a little bummed but I think the glass turned out pretty good, so I'm a little less bummed than I would otherwise be.

3: Insurance didn't cover the window? Maybe it's just Geico, but that's a free fix for me.

Insurance would have covered it under a $100 deductible but there may have been rate consequences so I footed the entire bill. I can change my mind and get the insurance to reimburse me at a later date.

CRSj you shoulda called your ins. There is no hike for glass as long as you have full coverage. It's all part of comprehensive on your policy I've replaced three windshields on three different cars in two months and it never went up. And the glass place probably would have covered your deduct.

Oh and I love the hood, nice job for sho

Curious, what was the retail cost for that windshield ? I saw a post about a guy in Canada who paid $1200 for one. A+ Auto Glass up here on Whidbey Island is putting those in for $400 .
Looks good on your car. Didn't like it on a red magnum.

I never got the retail price out of the guy. The original replacement glass was 260 installed so that's what I paid for this.

It's growing on me but, atfirst it was so blue that I was a little shocked, didn't look like that on the table. The eye strain relief I expect would make puke green worth it though (maybe).

If I can get away with the front this way (if not I'm going back the shop to get stock replacement installed) I may have to get the sides and rear done in the same color.

I'l get some tomorrow after the sun comes back up. For now I can describe it as a very slight yellowish tint to everything, maybe gold or bronze are better descriptors... but real real subtle, everything looks sharper and there's no glare, even from headlights.

Well the glass is interesting for sure, but I think I'll stay with my 50% tint. Same effect inside, but the outside is colored more like the rest of the tint on my car.
