    Mechanic needed....

    My beater with a heater...
    My daily driver...
    My work horse...
Has become ill and for the life of me I can not figure out what is wrong.
    Long story.... short version..
2 months ago it broke down at work. Called a "recommended" auto shop and had it towed there. After the "diagnostic's" they told me it was a burnt valve. No biggie done my own head swaps before. Had the head gone through. Installed it, and wouldn't run. The "recommended" shop alsi said that it needed some carb work. So instead of giving them any more money it was cheaper to buy a new webber. Got the carb last week put it on... nothing. Started for and ran for about 3-4 minutes then died.
Not sure if it's the floats or what.
The vehicle is a 1980 Chevy LUV 4X4 with the 1.8 inline 4 cylinder.
There is no electronics on it at all. So I'm not sure what's wrong.
Here's a run down of what I've replaced besides the head work...
    Fuel pump...
    Cap, rotor, points, condensor, plugs...
Brand new webber 2 barrel carb...
    all new gaskets through out....
I've checked timing twice and have adjusted valves 3 different times, thinking it might of been a valve too tight.
Checked for vacume leaks... plugged every possible spot that might cause a vacume leak.
And when it runs its really rough... did a compression test and all cylinders are around 125 pounds. It's got me stumped and I'm ready to part it out and call tge wrecker... but before I get too drastic I was wondering if there is a good mobile mechanic that is knowledgeable and fairly reasonable with cost.
Sorry for the.long winded post but I wanted to try to cover all bases.
    Bill

Need more info to give real help. When it dies is there spark still. Did one of those trucks this week and it had a wire broken down between the coil and distributor. The webbor adaptor had a lot of places for vacuum leaks if not installed right that could be a rough idle. Jenn and I will be at shop most of the day feel free to call for a bit of help. Sounds like a few simple problems. 360-695-6030 Dings

    Yes there is spark...
And as far as vacuum leaks, there shouldnt be any.
Hylomar is good stuff especially when using on intakes and adapter's...
It has to be something simple there's only three things that help make it run...
    Fuel, spark, air...
No brolen wires on the.coil as the.coil is also new....
    It's got me stumped...

I know you're exaggerating, lol, but I'm sure they would all be right up front and honest about charging you an arm and a leg. haha.
