First EVER pictures of my car!!!

You would think this would be a good day for me being that I was able to take pics of my car for the first time since owning it. But, not so much. Couple days ago I removed the side moulding and noticed the driver side door had paint bubbles the entire run. I'm thinking well, it's not that noticable and when I can afford it I will get it repaired.

So I take my car in yesterday to get detailed and went to pick it up today to be super pissed that those bubble were no longer bubble but paint chips along my door :( They tried saying the car was like that when I dropped it over and yada yada yada and that they have someone in house who will fix it free of charge. But how can I trust the same people to paint my door who just chipped the **** out of it. Now I know part of the blame should go to me for having my car detailed with "bad" paint, but at the same time they should have called me at the first sign of chipping.

So now I'm stuck with either getting my door painted ($700 I was quoted at a couple places today) or slapping on moulding again. :(

oh yea and not to mention what they consider a "detail" is just an over priced car wash...Alot of the blemishes that could have easily been removed werent.

Man that sucks. Did they give any detail of how they would fix it?

Well the detail shop said they would just touch it up. But every place I took it to said the door needed to be repainted :( One place even told me that they would have to repaint the entire door as well as blend into the rear door and front panel so the paint would "match".

I'm going to keep my fingers crossed. THEMONGREL might be coming to the rescue! But if things don't work out I guess I'll just have to put the molding back on.

I'm guessing the strong adhesive pulled the paint away from the body as the side moulding was removed? I'd shell out and get the door repainted myself, but money can be tight so I understand you gotta do what you gotta do. Good luck with your car!

The bubbles are from moisture between the two thin strips of tape that hold the moldings on. Very common!!!
    Good luck this your car.

There have been MANY cars, (mostly '05 it seems) that had this issue. Always the front drivers door. If you do a search, you'll be amazed how comon it is.

It's too bad they had to pop the bubbles open, but they didn't put them there - Chrysler did. I wouldn't expect a detail shop to be liable for this.

Yea all the body shops said that the paint had already "failed" so it really wasnt there fault. I drove my car today and it just didnt feel the same :(

When I had my 05 I wanted to de-mold it but I didn't for that same fear. I did take my molding off of my 06 finally after 2 years and luckily had nothing but a ghost line from fading. That is now gone though.

    Good luck on your repair!
