Custom 3" Exhaust on my Chally SRT

Well, here is the preliminary pics of the 3" exhaust. H-Pipe in about same location as factory, Magnaflow 3" offset/center mufflers with 5 x 8" ovals, 18" case length, Mandrel bent Pipes cut/welded for the bends (a minimal amount of cheated angles, if you know what i mean). Stainless quad-tip setup. She's only tacked together in the pics and no hangers installed yet, will be doing that this morning. Fired her up last night and wow... she sounds mean . Ill see about dynoing and posting some audio/video files of the exhaust. Let me know what you think! Here's the pics so far:

Yah, that's Zip Ties holding her up at the moment!

Looks great man!!! Why 3" though? Are you planning on any major mods down the road? I think I'm liking the Magnflows tips compared to the others out there.

The Mufflers are Magnaflow, the tips are made by a place called Angelus Plating (I think that's the name). Anyway, this is the kind of work my Brother's shop can do, especially since that's his Lift I'm on and his help with building it! (Yes, I know how to and do most of my own welding, but he's handy at fabrication since that's his bread and butter). I had to build the H-pipe in 2 pieces so that I could cut open the pipes on the sides then attach them together. Thanks for the input guys, we'll see how it goes from here on out

Rule of thumb I've always gone by was at 500 hp (crank) you need to step up to 3" dual exhaust. I don't believe I'm going to be there anytime soon, but why build a system for what you have now then have to build another one later?? I will dyno test to see what, if any, gains or losses there are vs. stock and with just the Doug Thorley's installed. I am hoping, however, that with bolt on mods, like this, and tuning, I'll be able to get in the neighborhood of 400 whp (about 450-475 crank). We shall see though

having an IRS really helps smooth out the exhaust...no hump to clear a live axle
Ali LMK when you get your FIC installed, hopefully by then I'll have enough experience w/mine to help you out some. BTW I bet you're going to spray this one too, right?

Still on the fence about the F/IC. Looking at the iEMS3 as well, but waffling. Not sure if Nitrous will go on the chally, but it is tempting to make it easy street drivable for my sister and a beast at the track for me :D We'll see.

About the Exhaust: All done. Dyno'd. Ill post up everything when I get home and can make pretty pictures for all to see!, but here's the preliminary:

380 whp, 388 wtq, sound now DEMANDS respect

Do you have a before dyno for comparison? My stock Challenger with a CAI/Canned tune made 384/384
on the stock exhaust, Which was more then the Zoomer'd catback Challenger on the same day same dyno, People have lost low end TQ on a stock motor by upping to 3". Be nice to see both your graphs
    in SAE, smoothing 5.

I have done all of mine Uncorrected, but I do have all the dyno run files from stock thru now. I can say I have not lost any low end over stock with the 3" upgrade on this car. Only mods so far for performance are Doug Thorley Tri-Y headers with 3" cat-less mid pipes and a full 3" mandrel bent exhaust with Magnaflow mufflers, H-pipe and quad tips (I ovalled the end of the 3" pipe to connect to dual 2.5" pipe for tips). I plan to post all 3 plots overlayed when I get home. I could put SAE correction on them if you want as well. Updating coming I promise Peace.

Magnaflows are great sounding. I loved the sound when I had my truck. Sounded tough when it started up.

    Your exhaust looks great.

I'll glad to see you finally got your project underway and I'm sorry for dropping by and slowing you guys down the other day.
It looks like 2012 will be very good indeed.
Unless the Mayans are right, then, well, never mind.
