    Boiler plant job

Just putting the word out there for anyone interested and qualified as I know people are looking.

It appears there will be a Journeyman Level Boiler Plant Operator spot open at the VA Hospital in Portland. It is not entry level, you will have to have plant experience but we do about 30 days training on this plant before letting you drive by yourself.

Veteran's get preference if they have experience. It is a Dept. of Veteran's Affair job after all.

If you have experience and are interested shoot me a pm and I will get you info on how to apply when it is out.

The opening is because an operator took a supervisors spot in the Vancouver plant.

It would require some steam/boiler experience. It is a pretty extensive plant running multiple buildings. The operator also has the Chiller Plant, Fire Monitoring, Gas Monitoring, and all DDC control monitoring (which is about 76K points in itself). We also run the Vancouver campus from Portland through the DDC system at night.

If a veteran is not picked up (special vietnam era status) and the job goes out on USAjobs.com I would encourage you to apply though, lot of times we don't find what we are looking for and smarts and personality mean a lot. Also if you are a veteran it is a good deal as for benefits and retirement/pension.

It is step pay and I believe it start around $23.75/hr with the first raise in 6 months.

I unfortunately couldn't afford a job at that rate unless things were desperate for me and I sold my house. The little guy is pretty expensive as it is. It really sounds like an interesting and challenging position, however. If it were closer to 35 an hour I would keep an eye on it for sure. Always looking to expand my horizons. Thanks for the info, eh?

    Delta Controls.
I am the Instrumentation Controls Tech for both campuses.

The pay for that job isn't up with union scale, but if you are a veteran the package is nice though. For instance right now I get 71 paid days off a year plus sick time.
