    I94 vs. I90?

hopefully someone will know the difference. i'm doing a x-countries road trip in a couple weeks, from toronto, ontario to the interior of b.c. we'll be going through the states, which takes us around chicago and then west to spokane, washington before crossing the border again. what i'm wondering from any of you is which route to take across the central states. the mapping programs i'm using (google maps, mapquest) are telling me to take I94 all the way, whereas when i look at it on the map I90 looks more direct between wisconsin and montana. which would be more efficient? easier? cheaper? construction? tolls? etc....
any insight would be MUCH appreciated.
    cheers.

Ive lived in Minnesota for several years. both would be a good route to take. I think the scenery on the I94 is a bit better.

    Chicago!

Hopefully a North sider will pipe up here, but I-294 / I-94 from I-90 north to the Wisconsin border or there abouts has been a construction nightmare all summer / fall. I don't know if they got it picked up, (I don't think so), but I think it is a multiyear project.

That said, I'd take I-90 through Chicago, don't stop on it though from the Indiana state line, until you get to I-294, there is some not so nice neighborhoods along the way!

Bring lots of change when going through Chicago. If I remember right, there is a toll both every mile or half mile. 94 goes through so many cities and can cause you problems if you hit them during rush hour. 90 will bring you through some beautiful country and, if you want, you can stop at some cool sites along the way.

Holy old threads. As for the tolls. There is one every 20 miles and if I remember correctly, there are 5 before you reach wisconsin.
